I have to admit I underestimate this synth, this is the ultimate modern paraphonic synth. It's so modern and creative that, I never seen the features of Matrixbrute appears in anywhere else. It's just so crazy to see so many modulation possibilities can appear in a big matrix, and it could be used to create sequence and arp. Really can't believe this is an analog synth. I'm totally blown away by Arturia, they are amazing...

For anyone curious about the CV patch bay, here's a quick version: CV inputs send your signal straight to whatever parameter is on the label. You must attenuate before it goes in if you desire that, inputs do not pass through the patch bay. You can't modulate reassignable destinations. CV outputs send out whatever CV is already acting on a parameter, after attenuation and mixing. For example, if I wanna send out LFO1, I send it somewhere on the patchbay like VCO1 Metal, then take the CV output labelled VCO1 Metal. Sources can be mixed. (For pitch, it sends the 1V/oct signal that VCO is receiving, NOT the oscillator itself).

Surely this is going to become a modern classic. A lot of time must have gone into the dev of the MatrixBrute. I love the places that this thing could take someone, even someone starting out. It's the kind of thing that a person could grow into. It's accessible and immediate - as you pointed out. But it's the kind of thing, that I think someone could sit in front of, and it would help creativity... some of the extra sound designer sets (produced as a free add on) are also amazing too. I wonder if something like the Moog One, is really worth 3.5 times more. Different markets I guess.

The JDXA is a great deep synth, but it is a pain to program through the limited access menu system. I had one and sold it because it just sat in my studio gathering dust (and Roland ignored it after creating it - no computer sound editor which it badly needs). On the other hand, I have a Matrix Brute which gets a lot of my attention because it is so accessible! Two very different synths. I guess the question is, do you need a hybrid poly synth with a great vocoder, or an analogue mostly mono synth? Out of the two, the Matrix Brute is built like a tank whereas the JDXA is a lump of plastic.

Excellent presentation of the Matrix. That's a absolutely beautiful synth. I am pleased that you made some sounds before signing off, I got to hear a little more of what it can do. Any "mono" synth for that price tag has to have balls, no matter how many features it has. I am happy to say it is not wimpy. Having a 4 octave KB is an advantage. Moog's Subsequent 37 only has 3 octaves and does not have near as many options as the Maxtrix. $1500.The build quality looks solid. $2500, but can be had for less.
