My grandpa was 9th infantry division. He was a machine gun specialist, sniper. And radioman. He survived 9 months in the jungle. I've never met anyone more manly than this old wise guy. God I miss him so much. Rip to the warrior who raised me. Little did I know he was a warrior in a garden after the war. He was a great man. I'll never forget the war stories he told me and the lessons he learned in combat

My father James Santmyre was in the 9th in 1968 until shot down in a helicopter. I always hope I will see him in one of these videos lol. He died from cancers which were not helped by Agent Orange exposure. I still miss him everyday and I pray I can see him again somehow. Thank you to all the Vietnam vets. You guys rock and are the type of brave men we need today. Im sorry for what all of you had to go through and I hope you found peace in your lives. God bless you all.

I think it would be good for him. If found he can choose to take it or not. But don’t give up. They say ppl have found ppl over years of searching and continue to do so today. Best of luck to you.!

I had the joy of a boat ride over late 1966, 9th division. Bearcat, Dong Tam. Fun camping out and going on hikes. This video is accurate...thanks.

I may have been on that same boat. Departed Oakland early December '66. Pulled latrine (head?) cleaning duty for 2 weeks on that boat. Hated it. Glad to get off at Vung Tau and head for Bearcat for a few months, then on to Dong Tam. But we survived, for which I am thankful.

The World War II era propaganda music just ruins these Big Picture Vietnam films. The music just doesn't fit for that war. The footage and info is good, but it just doesn't get across the violence and difficulty of Vietnam. But, I guess the Big Picture was Department of the Army propaganda.

Served with 3/34th. artillery as a medic in 1967. Living in the 'hootch' that separates the 105's really sucked. Not for the claustrophobic. What this video doesn't talk about are the various skin problems that come with such a wet environment, not to mention the leeches. Treated many for skin ailments. All of us had hearing damage living in close proximity to the howitzers. This is one of the best videos about the Mekong Delta & the 9th. Infantry division in the Mekong. Agree with others about the music.

ATC-152-10 WE CARRIED 40 tROUPS DAILY all branches, they were very effective at killing Communists and ridding the locals of their threat, the weak point wasn't the military. It was the Communists at home! @rickbarnes77453 жыл бұрын
You misunderstand what I'm saying. In Vietnam, the marine corps was misused. They were deployed as long term occupation ground forces, exactly what the army designed for. The marines mission is to seize advanced bases in a naval campaign as they did in ww2. As an amphibious force, the marines should have been deployed in Riverine operations if they were used at all in Vietnam.
