If you're judging built guys based on knowledge, well then you need to move.... Or go on holiday some time. There's a ton of tech nerds that are also gym rats/buff people. Could be any number of things making him that built, who knows, he might handle heavy servers and install them most of the day. That being said I do agree that typically buff guys are stereotyped these days, personally I blame TV shows that show muscular frat boys on shows like love island, where it's just for the drama.

@keithmaher9576
@keithmaher9576 11 ай бұрын
@@caidelander2561 No. The bottom fans add to the flow coming from the front 180mm fans. Along with the rear exhaust you have an overpowering flow of air from front to back that cools the whole system. I remember when I built my old PC in early 2012, Steam would let you download however much your connection could handle at once. I queued up a bunch of downloads when I was at home, but wanted to download stuff using the T3 connection at work instead of my DSL. When I booted it up and Steam started, the entire system was unusable until Steam was done downloading those games. So yeah, I believe it when you say Steam downloads are a good CPU test.

Power and wireless interference aside, with the side of the case off you are interrupting the optimal air flow out the back. Splave specifically mentioned it wasn't an issue with the GPU blowing into the CPU cooler. With the proper ducting in place (aka close up the case) you might not have seen some of the issues you did. It's such a fine-tuned system that interrupting the airflow the way you did will skew the results.

Not really due to convection and having that much open space for air to escape , any hot air will naturally rise up and out of the case no fans needed , while if your limited to just one fan and the toatall pressure of the case pulling exhaust heat , it will accumulate faster due to those restrictions in airflow
@pearce05
@pearce05 2 жыл бұрын
@@lucidx2 convection isn't doing anything with that much airflow. What I could see happening is more of the air coming off the GPU being sucked in by the CPU cooler, because the air from the intake fans is escaping out the side instead of forcing it out the back of the case.

Did you really thermal test the fractal torrent with the side panel open? You know that's a positive pressure case... Right? EDIT: Dude, no, seriously, make the test again. The hole glory of that case is that the pressure coming from the front fans makes almost impossible for the gpu temps to reach the CPU cooler. Is literally the case with the best temps on the market while also being positive pressure.

Doubt it, components usually run at their peak in open air. Cases serve to protect the parts of the PC, and case fans are there to mitigate the side effect of heat buildup. With the side panel off the GPU can be exhausting its heat directly out of the case while the bottom fans feed it fresh air. They should have kept the side panel on though, but for the opposite reason, because the components are probably running cooler than normal with it off.

maybe you have to watch linus as long as i have in order to get the jokes.. but, they're not ACTUALLY recommending to get a UPS. they're saying if you get the Splave PC, which they low-key don't recommend, because, Linus mentioned 4 times about not liking the cooler in it, and also low-key mentioned that aside from the top-binned silicon, it's essentially the same as their machine, only 5% faster.... you could get 5% faster than stock just by using EVGA precision X OC and upping your video card a bit... so, i mean, 5% is literally nothing in terms of overclocking performance. (but overclocking doesn't really ever get anyone much more performance anyhow... but i think they were expecting better given that this guy is ranked number 1 in overclocking) anyway, they mentioned the UPS because they were running two 1500W (approximately) power supplies, which, together at full power, means they're going over the maximum amperage allowed on a typical home power circuit (i.e. it'll blow the breaker). he also mentions that their machine is $5100, but this guy doesn't know how much his machine is going to sell for yet.... linus throws shade at that in the end. linus basically ripped this guy a new one, but did it in a very passive aggressive way, and i think it might have been easy to miss, but i assure you, don't worry about a UPS (unless you're a business or streamer or something, but even then, nowadays, how often does your power REALLY go out? where I'm at, it almost never goes out even during storms), i also assure you that linus and team would recommend just spending your money on a water cooler and doing some overclocking yourself. Linus even says that intel and manufacturers guarantee their products will work at any ambient temperature, which he could not say the same for the Splace PC. IF that's not ripping dude a new one, i don't know what is. Trust me, Don't give this Splave PC another thought, and don't worry about the UPS slight-of-hand joke at the end there.

@MHWGamer 2 жыл бұрын
weird quote from linus with the 1000+$ tower. Maybe it is just a NA problem with shitty power but here in europe I haven't heard from anyone that they actually use one. For a home server with important data it is another story but even in businesses for normal worker's computer (that still have important data), they don't use ups's. I also don't remember the last time when power was off. I think 3 years ago
