I'm a proud owner of this synth. I've got a minologue xd, monologue, kronos 2, modx7, moog sub phatty, roland d05 serum, massive etc. But this synth man... it's my first real synth, but it still gives me pleasure when I play it. I sold my Virus C and pre ordered the TI just before it''s release. They kept putting the release date back and back. If my memory serves correct it was supposed to be available in Dec 2005 or 4 (can't remember) but I got it literally 12 months later! This drove me bonkers waiting that long because I was sooo excited! Felt like forever! In the mean time I spent another 300 quid (which was a lot more money at the time) on the Virus plugin for the 'TC Powercore' , which was ok but not as good as the real thing!

@@valerianteritron4424 Every other music company manages to support upgrades to their software when Apple updates the new OS. Access is completely at fault with this - they list being Mac compatible but if you bought a new Mac in the past couple years you have zero option to use any of the integration features with the Virus TI's. Its borderline class-action lawsuit material. They could solve this problem entirely by stating right on the product page, "not compatible with Mac OSX ... and above", thats it. They made amazing synthesizers but they have completely flaked on their custom support in the past couple years, and its a shame.

Auraplugins does an editor and librarian (both standalone and VST) for newer Mac versions. But I agree, support could be better. Like ... why do I have to search for a fanmade MIDI implementation chart on some Access forums, why is this not part of the manual (that is very, very short for a synth with so many capabilities)?

A company with the most famous synthesizer is not allowed to have no technical support and the whole system crashes when connected to the Usb (tested with both Windows and Imac million times).I agree it has unique sound and color but maybe 2012 was more impressive. Nowdays Vst's doing everything and much easier and of course there are plenty of options from synths with good prices and very respectable sound. Thanks for the nice review and the video! 😊

True, vst's can do it all now and I use both (since the beginning). Still something about the hardware units that the vst's lack though. Luckily my 5,1 mac pro stopped official support in the same OS so I still (for the time being) have the software working on my studio computer but for a long while I didnt and didnt really notice. MIDI will be supported for a good long while and audio IO means that the virus will always have a home in your studio.

You should not compare a rompler/sampler/VA-workstation with a zillion features with a Virus TI. Copmare apples with apples. The TI series are 'pure' synthesizers that have their own timbre. Bit of a late reply... no offence but regarding virus vs fantom you're talking rubbish I own both i have virus t.i. DarkStar Ltd ed and the new Fantom 7. the Fantom can't do wavetable or Graintable synthesis to name a couple... and the virus t.i. has a massive mod matrix.. currently the Fantom is still a work in progress with a hell of a lot that needs to be added. all Fantom uses are hoping for a massive update by the time Namm show on the 16th of Jan.. and regarding soft synths I'm not a fan vst!! And from what I remember no soft synth can offer what the virus offers on its own one versus the other the virus covers so much synthesis and modulation possibilities it would leave your computer in a non-functional near crash sweat.. if you tried with a VST on the computer to push the same processing power that the virus uses pushing virus to it's limit with one patch.. that's why synths like the virus come as hardware! with their own powerful processors. Dedicated computer in a box! Rather than software version on your desktop/ laptop trying to be jack of all

Hoping Fantom will provide traditional 80s sounds (that dont need stupid mod control) with its modelled and analogue filters while Ti2 does the heavy mod stuff. It's such a remarkable sounding synthesizer, which just adds to the question as to why Virus never built on this technology? They just stopped producing new synthesizers. Unfortunate, but at least these are still available.

I feel theres not lot more to add feature wise. Love mine. Not any synth does anything, but not many synth does all what virus does. Well integra7 does 'anything' . 6 stereo outs simultaneously to daw via usb and analog outs, should get u far, also wavetable stuff it does is unique, and sounds cool. Higher polyphony and more outputs would be nice but you can mix in the synth quite well and use it as signal processor and what not. Desktop unit is alot of synth for the space and keybed is great if you can go that route. 1 synth for me it would be that, and that makes me really curious how the dsp chip being discontinued will do for virus future. Hope there wont be time when there is no virus.

No, they stopped a design for a new one because of the Kemper Profiler.

I bought this synth from Andertons during lockdown. Virus for the virus. Thing is, the synth is real and I would never, ever sell her.

Not bad, but ALL of these hardware synthesizers, EVERYTHING they try to do, has now been EXTREMELY superseded by software synthesizers. The most advanced {software} synthesizers I have seen are those made by the legendary Rob Papen. They can do FARRR MORE of what we see being attempted by the Virus Ti2 here.

This demo's about 1% of the Virus's capabilities. It's basically a hardware VST - can do anything Papen can

IMHO, probably since the Virus guys are now more interested in guitar gear (Kemper profile and all that stuff) the Virus synths have gained a truly hyped status. But if you close your eyes and listen to it, it sounds quite digital, VST-ish, with no analog warmth whatsoever. Nothing wrong with that. If you want that sound, but there're loads of similar sounding stuff, with the same digital sonic signature all over. I'm not talking here about the posibilities of the synth, just for the SOUND. and the SOUND is not worth the hype at all.

Analog warmth? You can stick to you max 8 useless notes of analog overhyped warmth and I would go for the virus over any other synth. Sadly this guy is useless at showing off the capabilities of this synth, not quite sure why Anderson’s still employ him. I’ve owned many synths over the years but this is one I regret selling.

I would use my Virus rather then something easy and good sounding then Serum. It sounds a bit digital, but not in a bad way. Having the right pre-amp or VST stuff like Universal Audio makes it shine 100%.

To be fair, apart from snowfall, these presets didn't do it justice at all. They did all sound harsh and digital, but that doesn't have to be the case. The Virus can sound as warm, fuzzy and wonky as any analogue synth - you just have to know how to use it.

Wald Geist ....and when was this? And what were they playing? Or, do you simply not like this video? Or maybe you’re implying that someone should spend hours working out a performance that highlights the aspects of synth that are relevant to you, in a way that satisfies you as well? Tall order. It’s fine not to like the video but your criticism is empty.
