@@writingrefDoesn't Morgan come after this though? All the Jedi must have believed was that force-sensitive women have historically found their way into the Night Sister order, and been trained in their ways, instead of being born into the Covens. They're also not wrong, since this Coven clearly are operating like they're a novelty and unnatural, and then Morgan was probably a product of a change in how some one order did things. It's not necessarily inconsistency, it's what could have established a change in customs.
@writingref6 ай бұрын
@@bajansamurai I thought of that too but clearly the nightsister clan is not the only type of witch on Dathomir. There are several clans, to include light side ones. And the clone wars clearly implied the nightsisters kept a clan of male zabraks as slaves for breeding. So . . . Headland should have known that one. The real answer is Tales of the Empire didn't communicate when this script was written. Its a small issue that can lead to larger ones.
@bajansamurai6 ай бұрын
@@writingref but what you're describing are all things that followed these events and you pointed out there are different clans. At this point 70 to 100 years before events such as Clone Wars and the OG Trilogy, what the Jedi know about Dathomir witches is limited. All they know is that Force users of various races come together and practice their arts, using the Force very differently than Jedi do. Over time they will learn more. What we know about the Nightsisters is that some time in the future they depict that practice of keeping males. It is likely a long running custom, but it wasn't one the Jedi witnessed beforehand to know any different, and it was not the practice of the groups they encountered on other planets (such as this).

I'm still in this until the end. Overall I've enjoyed this show and what they're putting together. But.... I can't deny that things aren't working for people. And so it's had me going back and thinking how I feel about the overall series so far with one more episode left. Put the biased pre-hate people aside, there have been noticeable critiques that even I can't overlook. The structure of the story isn't working. The 35 minute episodes aren't working. Only 8 episodes to tell a story that bounces between two many uncompleted/unfulfilled plots. Motivation from the characters don't fit the scenes/plot moments on various occasions. And there is one thing that bugs me that continues from JJ Abrams/Bad Robot Star Wars/Star Trek and that's a misunderstanding of time and distance between worlds in space, driving plots towards happenstance and not logical plot pathing. Again, I'm in it to the end. I love all the characters and actors involved. I do believe they worked hard on this and sometimes even hard work on entertainment doesn't produce the best results in the end. And I do hope this leads to Plagueis and if they do so, I hope it's executed in a way that, at the very least, has most people going "Okay, that part works. Lets go."

Just saw someone else comment this as well. You're missing the point, I think. She's saying it's odd there are only 2 children and 50 adults.

@@mikestand8067 that's the point - why would you say "fine. But we must be vigilant " to another police person type figure walking into a dangerous situation? You might as well say "fine. But we must breath air" or "fine. But we must wear clothes." Not a nit pick - boring and obvious dialogue builds tedious and paper thin characters.

What a let down, what could have been, and what a mess Star Wars just continues to dive deeper into.

What did you think of the end credits song? Kinda caught me off guard. Has Star Wars done that before?

Mae tells the Jedi her mom said they were to be sacrificed at the ceremony. Her own words. So, then saving children from being sacrificed is too much of an emotional attachment for a Jedi, according to Indara? I thought Jedi were the guardians of peace and justice in the galaxy. What's more peaceful and just than saving two young girls from being sacrificed in a ritual? Sol's concern was completely reasonable and Osha said she wanted to go with the Jedi, so the Jedi returning to the mine for her is completely justified.

Appreciate the honesty as always brother SALUTE... this would have been a good episode to go into the back story of the so called "I am Sith" Lord of the show 🤔

Subpar execution of what I think ultimately had to be the case with the past events. Burning the door? - unintentional! Thinking the children were in danger? - misunderstanding! Coven passed out around a dead Aniseya? - result of an unseen circumstance (battle) Possibility for Koril to still be alive? - Yup. Is Koril the master behind Qimir/Stranger? Possible, but I also think the show hasn't promised that there is a master behing Qimir. We assume there is because there's the phrasing he's Sith, and we've almost always seen one trying to get an apprentice while plotting to do away with his master; while the Master dupes a weak apprentice into serving him as a stopgap to getting a stronger one. Maybe Qimir is all we get, but I still think it would have made sense for Koril to resurface as having set him on his course (especially after possibly being discarded as problematic by Vernestra). It would be a nice curve if they reveal that Sol's emotional personality and these events led him to the dark side some time before the beginning of the present day stuff and he trained Qimir while also hiding his identity (or Torbin did) - all outcomes i doubt we'll get.

At least I thought KA Moss was going to strike down the mediating witches with a saber. Slaughter would have been shocking and terrible for them to get over.

I'm surprised you weren't interested in the fact that the jedi actually said no and to leave the children with their family, and that it was actually Sol giving into his emotion that caused such a tragedy

Did any of the writers read each others work? It comes across as the script equivalent of one of those pass it on, fold up paper thingies. An absolute embarrassment of a show!

They are still so terrified of the word midichlorian. Until they get over that fear and lean into what Lucas wanted to do with them concept wise you will never get true star wars again. Love them or hate them - Midichlorians (not M count) is your measuring stick to judge if Disney ever fully embraces the weird mythology of Lucas
@TZ199996 ай бұрын
Nah you can keep midichlorians out of it. The OG Trilogy didn't need them and Star wars now doesn't either.
@writingref6 ай бұрын
@@TZ19999 You don't think exploring the balance or relationship between the natural world and the cosmic/ spiritual world is interesting? I can understand if you think midichlorians are like a physical scientific explanation of the force, but that isn't what they are. What is your understanding of George Lucas' original drafts for star wars - "The Journal of the Whils?"
