They had their chance to write a good season of Kenobi. Six episodes. Instead we got stormtroopers getting knocked out with a single tap to the helmet, a princess Leia arc for some reason, a dark sider who wanted to get revenge on the man who ruined her life by joining him and helping him ruin other people's lives, and a kenobi who was just sort of there to be told what to do by everyone else. It is hard to hope anymore.

The only idea for a Kenobi S2 that would work with mainstream audiences would be a whole bunch of Clone Wars flashbacks. So maybe Kenobi is crafting a holocron for Luke to find and the majority of Kenobi S2 are the battle scenes from the Clone Wars similar to what we saw in the animated series. It's not perfect, I think it'd receive the same reception Godfather 3 would have. But if Disney wants a cash grab that's the only idea off the top of my head that might work. Short of creating a Kenobi clone and putting Kenobi's soul into it so that Ewan can partake in the Mandoverse... Fuck I hope Disney doesn't read this.

Hey Thor, I got a crazy idea for a movie/show that would get everyone together. 1000 years from now, episode 9, we find out that keeping your consciousness as a force ghost leads to reincarnation. The Sith has multiple small kingdoms of 2 to 3 sith leading each one. They mostly war with each other but sometimes with the Republic. Luke is reincarnated as Anakin's dad (because of how old Mark Hamill is). Obi-Wan is reincarnated and falls to the dark side. Rematch of the century with a Twist. Luke is with his wife, and they have trained Anakin. Reincarnated Rey falls to the dark side and fights reincarnated Ahsoka. Samuel L. Jackson could be back 😂 Mace! Some of the Force users could access the world between worlds and see some of the past push some to the dark side and some to the light. Have Avalos the force demon be what is push some to the dark side in the world between worlds. Maybe this sounds crazy, but I think it would be cool and make something that would pull original fans, sequel fans and prequel fans together ❤️

Hey Thor, so curious what you think of this recent observation I've made. A year ago, I rewatched all the Star Wars movies, and I noticed the music choice. Obviously John Williams came back for the Sequel Trilogy, and brought back a ton of his own music, but even Rogue One and Solo, which were done by Michael Giacchino and John Powell respectively, still made sure to reuse Williams's original music, and that helped those movies feel like Star Wars. Compare this to the live-action Disney+ shows, which don't do this very often. They all feel more focused on creating new music, and they don't often reuse Williams's work. This was particularly distracting in Kenobi, when they had the golden opportunity to play Battle of the Heroes during Obi-Wan and Vader's fight, and they just ignored it. I don't mind it in Andor, because that show isn't trying to be like Star Wars, in a good way, but the rest are, and for me, it's frustrating that they don't reuse Williams's music, because it makes them feel less and less like Star Wars. It's the one time I'd be ok with unapologetic fan service, but they always don't seem to care. I'll admit maybe this is just a "me problem", but I'd be curious to hear what you think.

It's hard to say, of course, what the various executives, producers, and other bureaucrats at Disney genuinely think and/or internally argue was the cause of any given media failure; but clearly they have been unable to discern, or are for some reason unwilling to implement, an effective solution. I would guess, however, that there is a lot of rationalization going on, whether by the absurd 'franchise fatigue' narrative or, more likely for the more recent stuff considering there isn't enough material to be fatiguing, the 'fan conspiracy' narrative wherein a political invective from a small cadre of youtubers and twitter users leverage media power to turn away masses of potential viewers. My point is that tge decision makers have plenty of cause to spin a superficial and shortsighted understanding of any given dataset and outcome into a narrative that serves them best, that keeps them employed and/or sheilds their sociopolitical crusade, whatever the case may be, whether they believe their own words or not. This sort of attitude, entrenched over time by the continual hiring of like minded folks and an increasing alienation from a increasingly dissatisfied fanbase and apathetic general audience has likely created this culture of 'toxic positivity' we hear so much about and undermines the sort of creative risk taking needed to make good stories. So yeah, I think they're more likely to look at every possible reason for the Acolyte's failure and cherry pick the one most easily digested by their own wants and sensibilities -- which probably means that like Thor said original characters in new time periods are going to be underfavored for the time being, ongoing projects notwithstanding. Ironic, isn't it. Could be, though, that things get so bleak that eventually Disney/Lucasfilm is forced to massively downsize and restart from the grassroots in a sense, giving opportunity to new creatives able to build a culture of creative risk taking and mutual critical analysis to make better, albeit smaller budgeted at the start, material. Sorta a circle of life thing, or at least that's what I'm hoping.

I wouldn't mind a second season of Kenobi if it was more like the eponymous novel, but I guess most of that ground has already been covered. I wish Disney would tell stories in chronological order and invest properly in world-building and character development. They introduce a raft of new characters who, we're told, all have a ton of backstory to them. But then they jump back and forth between the timeliines, only introducing specific elements of their backstory as they become relevant to the current part of the story. It's lazy shallow, world-building that makes everything look like a convenient plot contrivance. Hence, payoffs do not feel earned, twists are predictable and conclusions are deeply unsatisfying. I want writers that will plan out longer story arcs, not just throw in twists for a quick bit of clickbait on social media.

Hey Thor, I recently heard a great explanation about the difference between grey morality and moral complexity. For me, this sums up why Andor was great, verses a show like The Acolyte. I also think it addresses the supposed contradiction of why a show like Andor can be considered great Star Wars, but not concepts like Grey Jedi, or what the Acolyte tried to do in making the Jedi the "bad guys." This is from a video from a channel called TRILL, that mainly focuses on Roleplaying games. _"Grey Morality refers to the approach where characters, factions, or situations are morally ambiguous rather than clearly defined good or evil... Grey Morality focuses on ambiguity, blurring the lines between right and wrong, often by presenting morally ambiguous characters or scenarios... This often creates an atmosphere where moral clarity feels extremely elusive. This tends to lend itself to a sense of nihilism or cynicism where the lack of clear moral distinctions make every choice feel equally flawed, or in its extreme, pointless._ _Moral complexity however, enriches games by acknowledging that clear choices can have difficult, far reaching consequences. Moral Complexity focuses on nuance and presents choices with layers and trade-offs, challenging players to balance conflicting values or outcomes. Unlike Grey Morality, Moral Complexity doesn't inherently obscure moral clarity. Instead it highlights that making the right choice can still involve sacrifices or unintended consequences.... In the Morally Complex scenario, choices are still difficult but they're not meaningless. Every option has consequences...._ _Grey Morality presents a world where all choices are tainted and players are forced into picking the lesser evil in a system that is fundamentally broken. Whereas Moral Complexity offers a world where ethical decisions are hard but still carry meaning and impact."_ Sorry the quote is so long. Love to hear your thoughts on this.

I will never forget the scene where Storm Troopers don’t recognize Kenobi while hes wearing fucking Jedi robes in the back of the truck, the Empire is so fucking useless. Then they break cannon and give Qui Gon a force ghost, its like are you kidding? He would’ve been in the OT if he was a force ghost. You literally can’t make that decision… smfh.

I think they should make a Darth Maul series, it would allow Darth Plagueis and Palpatine to both appear together in flashbacks from the time when he was given away to the Sith by Mother Talzin as a child. in the present Maul is trying to stay three steps ahead of both the ISB and the inquisitors, while leading the crimson dawn crime syndicate.

The thing that sucks is the Acolyte failing this badly probably means they will never try a new time period again, at least for a long time. They will take the wrong message from this, that instead of seeing that the story was garbage, they will think they can only do stuff in the Skywalker period, which honestly sucks. They aren't doing anything good in this time period, their best home IMO was to get completely away and try something new. Unfortunately, this shows that it has nothing to do with what story or time period they do, they need to hire more competent writers to make compelling stories. These shows fail because the stories/new characters suck. Nothing they do will fix that until they pull their heads out of their asses and address this. Amazes me how such a large company can so consistently suck at producing good productions.

The Acolyte was a weird choice of story to show the high republic. From my understanding the High Republic is supposed to be this well...great time for the republic and the jedi, and the sith aren't a thing. So whats the show give us? The jedi seemingly in decline and the main villain kind of being a sith. Futhermore, it goes into the vergence thing again. While a 'new' era it really seems like its just retreading the prequals on a smaller scale.

There's some great stories in the EU that don't focus on major wars or the Sith. Look at the X-wing novels, very few Force powers on display there, or the Jedi Apprentice books, that take place during the Republic's Golden Age.

Hey Thor, I was thinking, could the key to a successful Star Wars revival lie with the fanbase? Personally the Kenobi story I would like to see is how he worked to dismantle Maul’s criminal syndicate. I think they were setting that up with the end of Solo. Use the element from the original Kenobi movie script treatment and bring in post chip Cody who Kenobi leaves to watch Luke while he deals with Maul.

I gave the high republic a chance and honestly it was just ok. Nothing notable just a thing in star wars that's been covered far more than it deserves to be. Personally I would've much preferred a more interesting era of star wars like the old republic but oh well. Probably for the best that Disney hasn't touched those eras but I'm sure they'll get around to it eventually. For me tho new star wars content doesn't even get my attention. I didn't even realise the acolyte came out until people started making content on it. Same happened with skeleton crew trailer. As for the books and comics they've just lost the magic and aren't worth reading so I dropped both as well. All I care about right now is andor season 2 and then I'll probably forget about star wars. I guess where I'm going with this is even if Disney did a u turn and started making quality star wars I don't think I'd really notice. Disney has created indifference towards star wars. I take solace in Disney at least re releasing the old comics from the EU and doing full unabridged EU star wars audiobooks.

Season 2 and 3 would be amazing. Stuart Beattie's exploration of Obi Wan's attempt to turn Vader to the light side of the Force has not been explored. There is still plenty for Obi Wan to enjoy as a developing character. In the prequels he was more of a warrior than a Jedi Master. "Wars do not make one great." Season 1 ended with an opportunity to move towards becoming a "Master" of the force. Qui Gon seemed to be ready to teach Obi Wan once more. I'd like to see what challenges he faced to become a true disciple of the Force. Did Obi Wan face a place of darkness like Luke did on Dagobah? Did he help force user escape the Empire? Solve local conflicts? God! It would be great to FINALLY have a scene that highlights what made Anakin and Obi Wan's friendship so special. Throughout these new seasons Obi Wan's abilities to master the force must be tested, and through those challenges we learn how he is the Master that faces Maul in Rebels. Only by becoming a Master like, Windu or Yoda, does he seek out Vader, with the hope he might save his former student and "brother." In that conflict it's not about the crimes of the past, or defeating the Empire, this is a journey to rescue his friend. BUT... Disney makes content for children. Exploration of character is not how they choose to work. Compounding the problem is generations of fans. Most of which are toxic assholes. Each influenced by their place in time, their first experience with Star Wars. This only compounds the difficulty of creating something everyone can enjoy. That's all Disney wants, is a Star Wars everyone is going to love and embrace. Disney isn't interested in building on lore or myth, they want the ability to print cash in large quantities. So they retread the same ground over and over again serving "member-berries" for the simple folk eager to hand over their money at the hope of getting all the feels.

Hey Thor, With all that has been happening lately in the Star Wars fandom, I think Disney really need to take a leap of faith and go in a new direction with the franchise. However, I don't think they should do that before fixing the mistakes they have made. Firstly, I think some of the Disney projects need to be decanonised. That doesn't mean they should be erased from existence (like the Willow series) but perhaps Disney should create a 'Canon' and a 'Legends' section on Disney plus so that fans of the Disney era can still watch and enjoy their content, but it also serves as an acknowledgement to the rest of the fans that Lucasfilm understands the mistakes they have made (for me personally, this would include retconning the sequels, Kenobi S1, The Acolyte, and maybe Solo: A Star Wars story). Disney could then focus on fixing the mistakes made by those projects by delivering a better story of Kenobi between Episodes III and IV; creating a new sequels story by doubling down on the mandoverse, redeeming Luke and having him build the new Jedi order, building Thrawn up to be the big antagonist of the era, and perhaps introducing some bigger conflict that both Thrawn and the New Republic join together for (like maybe Abeloth who is exiled on Peridia and controls an army of Grisk like how Sauron controls the orcs). After they've amended the mistakes they made with the central legacy characters, then they can begin to move outside of the main Star Wars saga into other time periods. I think the perfect project to begin this expansion with would be a direct and faithful adaptation of the Darth Plagueis novel by James Luceno into a 3-season high-budget series that follows the 3-part structure of the novel (but with any adaptations that might make the story more suited as a series). After this, I think they should then move onto the Old Republic as their next 'phase' in storytelling (like Marvel) and give us different movies, books, games, and TV shows that all interconnect to create a story of its own, but one that doesn't stray too far from Star Wars that it becomes unrecognisable. The old republic era should have its own identity, but I also think it would be cool to see a lot of foreshadowing of what is to come with the prophecy of the chosen one etc (like how Daemon in House of the Dragon has a vision of Ice and Fire and it changes his character going forward). Apologies for the long comment, I started with a point I was trying to make but ended up rambling on about what I'd love to see from Star Wars. I'd like to hear what you think about this and if you think adapting old legends stories into the new canon is the right way to go? Or if entirely new and original stories would save Disney possibly ruining even more of the beloved franchise? Or perhaps a mix of both?

Season 2 of Kenobi would probably just focus on Reva’s redemption arc, since the first season was mainly about her. It’s really hard for mess up a Kenobi show, but they did it. Not saying there weren’t parts I like, and even one I loved but I was hoping for what you’re talking about; a more introspective Kenobi, isolated on Tattooine, portray him having PTSD and throw tons of flashbacks, I don’t care if they’re “fan service” or not.

Honestly I feel like having flashbacks to the clone-wars wouldn't be too bad? Sure, it's a larger scope, but if they don't have him confront Vader again and focus more on Obi-Wan's force ghost training along with him coping with the past, it could be more akin to what people wanted from the first season- rather than what we actually got with the first season.

Lucasfilm continues to exceed the definition of "bewildering" when greenlighting productions. Kenobi season 1 is right down at the bottom of the barrel, in terms of quality, along with The Last Jedi and now The Acolyte. It's amateur hour stuff. The High Republic has never been popular, and Disney/Lucasfilm definitely wanted The Acolyte to be a shot in the arm for it to renew interest, but with The Acolyte being woeful they simply managed to tank both it, and The High Republic, at the same time. Disney/Lucasfilm can't die fast enough. Their handling of Star Wars has been atrocious. Absolutely atrocious.

I did not think the young "Princess Leia" was a poorly written character or took away from the show so much as the ending. If we do get another season of Kenobe, we should get the "young Luke Skywalker" we were expecting in the first season. It may be difficult to come up with an interesting and exciting story on Tatooine that hasn't already been told.
