There was a period in Star Trek (DS9, Enterprise) when Vulcans were often jerks. Having that happen occasionally is fine, but Vulcans are one of the more popular features of Star Trek and the audience should be kept smpathetic toward them overall. Now Star Wars seems intent on doing that with Jedi.
