What an absolutely fascinating man. His skill and knowledge was off the scale. Such a treat to find this.

"There is knowledge that will die with the passing of my generation." That could be said of any profession where skill was required. The making of a copper pot. The running of an old power plant; all kinds of things. Learning the "tricks of the trade," it used to be called, and, "working at your craft." Now it's all push button, no thought required even of it comes out like crap. "What? I actually have to think and put my hands on a machine to fix the problem? How dare you! It'll cut into my phone time and besides, I might get my hands dirty!" Very little pride left in anything meaningful that I can see. Martin landau has been, and will always be, one of my all-time favorite actors. He didn't say it this way but I will. Any hack can be a "film maker" or "actor." No real skill required, and yet they'll call you "brilliant" and "visionary" and "daring" and a host of other nonsense. What drivel. Ah, Mr. Feeney, the old days are gone forever.

11:30 .But some method actors like James Dean would mumble during rehearsals because they didn't want the words to be ''used up'' before the actual performance .This helps keep the performance fresh and surprising for the other actor .T his keeps you on your toes because you are forced to listen and react to the other actor.

in 1980 both Martin Landau and Jack Palance were in a very low budget horror movie called “Without Warning”. Teenagers (including David Caruso) go to a lake and encounter an alien who throws these little spinning organisms at them like frisbees and they die. I guess jobs were bleak for both great actors then. But years later both would win best supporting actor Oscars. Landau was brilliant as Bela Lagosi doing the role with such dignity.
