One of my favorites, still, is his early role as "Dr. Mark Toland" in "One Life To Live." Also remember his cameo as one of "Oliver Barrett IV's" poker playing buddies in "Love Story". Of his most recent, I've thoroughly enjoyed "Space Cowboys"! A very talented guy!

@@darkl3ad3r What do you think? Just use a bit of logical deduction, here. Does James Lipton get a bad wrap? No. He's largely enjoyed. TLJ, on the other hand, can be considered grumpy, arrogant, and too cool for school. Obviously, he was referring to TLJ.
@darkl3ad3r

@@strats991 in the other comments there are plenty of people saying he came off as bothered and rude for his early attitude about native Americans. On the other hand I've never heard anything negative about Tommy. Not to mention, Tommy is still alive and the guy who claimed to be his driver speaks of his existence in the past tense.

Tommy tries to correct Lipton about his heritage. Lipton begins by not knowing that Jones is a Welsh name.....not a good start. Lipton then is dismissive of the difference between Comanche and Cherokee. Cherokee were/are an agrarian and peaceful tribe. Comanche were known for their aggressive and violent nature. Lipton was unprepared and I think a bit off kilter for the remainder of the interview. He missed an opportunity to be educated and it was obvious he knows nothing about Native American history. Tommy Lee is wicked smart and I think Lipton was a bit intimidated.

The first candid visit I have ever experienced with the consummate actor from my lifetime, beside Robert Duval of course, and it was beyond any expectation I had imagined in my 60+ years. I first decided to study Mr. Jones after VHS came out and I rented Black Moon Rising. Not an epic character but done so flawlessly you were convinced this man was out there somewhere. I had been too busy trying to survive prior to have seen any of his previous work, but thankful to live in a time where access is unlimited. Lonesome Dove should be a national treasure.

James Lipton needs to get his story straight about Tommy Lee Jones' heritage. I'm a Cherokee Indian and his Mother was Cherokee , for goodness' sake. SUGGESTION: One way to avoid uncomfortable moments about someone's heritage would be to make no assumptions but simply ask what one's ethnic roots are. And if the answer is, say, Welsh, you might mention you've heard he has some Native American roots and if so, you'd love to know more about his Native heritage.

Mr. Jones reveals his Indigenous American Heritage with his response to his Blood Quantum and Tribal Affiliation among the Comanche People. Hundreds of American Tribes, languages, Traditions, Culture, History and Religion were lost with European Arrival. Millions of Indigenous Lives lost for hundreds of years. Pre Arrival Indigenous American populations have varied estimated numbers ranging 8 - 21 million. The Native American population in the United States reached its lowest point in 1900, when it was about 237,000 people. In 2021, there were 9.7 million AI/AN people (alone or in combination), comprising 2.9% of the total U.S. population of 329.5 million. This is an increase of 86.5% from the last Census. Mr. Jones explains Comanche is absolutely untrue and in fact he is of Cherokee Heritage. Respect Mr. Jones !!!

James Lipton screwed up by being dismissive about the difference between Cherokee and Comanche. He should have accepted the correction and moved on.
