A lot of disagreements I've had with people's reviews of AC6 has been that other people seperate themselves from 621 as a character and underplay the importance of the meta gameplay happening in the menus. The objective to end the level may be set in the coding but choosing which faction to back, which to betray, and which to advance through your branch choice are not lacking in decisions to be made.

7:35 Not exactly. Her wording is vague but what she really meant is that coral is an organic and a sapient species in its own right. They are the native species of Rubicon and thus the true Rubiconians. I also don't agree that you are still 'just a dog' by the end of the game. Walter, even if an asshole was acting distant for the first half of the game as a result of the deaths of his previous pilots. He treats you with respect (as shown with his dialogue between Snail) but doesn't like to show it directly because it'll leave attachment. When he finally realizes the mistake he made he tells you to find your freedom, and he does so knowing you won't have to die fighting as his dog, since you have the choice between him or Ayre. He already had hints towards the existence of Ayre since you were going on 'solo' missions with no real incentive and getting help during missions from something that seemingly wasn't there. This is why i think the Liberator of Rubicon route is probably the best route because of the characterization it gives to Walter. Not saying your interpretation is wrong either but I believe it's more along the lines of "What happens when freedom is given to a person, and how they learn to use it" rather than "What happens when a person who has no free will is used by others". I think the second part is true but only up until the middle of ch4, where Rusty finally forces you to question that idea. To top all it off, at the end of the LOR route, Ayre knows how much you sacrificed to give her that ending, and offers to do the same thing you did for her. That's also why I think its the 'good' ending, not because you saved humanity or something but because you finally made a friend. Sorry for the ramble though.

@@AReallyCrazyMan yeah, Walter didn't know coral was a living thing, he didn't believe in 621's contact with Ayre, but when Arqebus augmented him he finally saw Ayre beside you in your duel with him, so he willingly(!) put his gun down, agreeing with your choice of not burning the coral, even if that means betraying Overseer's legacy
@lesslighter10 ай бұрын
@@ИванВанёк-л5б nah I wouldnt believe that Walter didnt know Coral was 'alive', it was HIS DAD THAT FOUND THAT OUT and thus went augmenting willing or unwilling people with Coral and see "what sticks to the proverbial dart board", Nagai found out somewhat too late but still took Walter under his wing and initiated the creation of OVERSEERS, who then sent Walter to Jupiter, and intiated the Fires of Ibis AKA "the first purging"
@ИванВанёк-л5б10 ай бұрын
@@lesslighter can you remind me where exactly is this stated? I only remember 621, Iguazu and Dolmyan having made contact with coral, did the Institute realize coral was a living thing?
@lesslighter10 ай бұрын
@@ИванВанёк-л5б Nagai didnt realize that Coral was a living organism, it was only Walter's dad, as Nagai notes was in "the deep end" you will know this from one of the STV or was it STK sketches about "assistant 1 heading for a breakdown" as one of the notes, and then we see assistant 2 who might as well be Carla. This is further alluded by Walter and his story about one scientist making a "carnival of horrors" were not sure what happened to his mom but we can make an assumption she was also augmented but didnt surive gen 1 augmentation. RRI only generally knows that Coral epreads and "expands" in its surroundings but multiplies like heck when exposed to space in short Coral was converging when Nagai initiated the IBIS protocol that lead to the fires of Ibis in fear of the unknown. And asked forgiveness for assistant 2 for carrying his burdens. So while Walter being young that time may not understood exactly why people were being augmented he has a hunch why early generation augmented humans can "hear voices" but he dismisses it and treat it more like a "bug" in the proceedure

Walter was my favorite, and he was totally justified to burn the coral. Liberator: You just kick the can down the road, and conflict immediately resumes. Coral Release: You likely kill way more people than burning a system and end humanity as we know it. We also don't know the intentions of any coral besides Ayre. Coral being ubiquitous could cause untold mass scale destruction in the use of c-weapons. Fires: You decisively end the conflict for a few decades at least. Potentially kicking the can again needing another burn at a later point. Big whoop you burn a system or a few, humanity is secured for now.

@@JD_Volt I’ve made ones for bullet holes, both face-on and glancing, plasma burns, worn metal seems, scratched paint, etc. Anything to give my creations a worn-in, functional feel. One easy trick to making whatever non-custom emblems you apply look better is to make some simple wearing decals. You can do this in the image editor by going to page 8 on the piece selection screen and putting down some simple scratch marks. Then just match them to whatever your AC’s color is and you can apply them over other decals, like large emblems, to make them look more realistic and painted on. You can do the same but color them in metallic greys (or coppers or steels, whatever your AC has) and then they look like parts where paint has been shot or scratched off. You’ll quickly become addicted to adding mementoes to your AC of various engagements. On the unit I used to S-Rank all the single player missions I put tally marks for each after I finished a group of five. Now it’s got the full 59 and some other custom bits.

These armored core games must be fun. I grew up with only MechWarrior, so whenever I see these games, all I notice is the giant legs which have zero purpose. Some even have 4 legs or tank tracks? So much extra weight to fly around with. This game would make more sense with decked out hovercrafts than mechs. The gameplay may be fun af tho. The customization looks really cool.

Well different legs serve different purposes like quad legs being better for longer air time and hovering and tank legs being so you can have a more beefy build overall and while it may not look like it depending on what you have equipped you WILL feel how heavy you are when traversing each level or fighting against anyone

He wants to exploit coral like the corporations. And Ayre? Ayre keeps licking your earlobes in hopes that you're not her to burn down the whole planet again. Because she knows! She gets worried when you betray V.VII Swinburne after accepting to spare him. "Did Walter teach you that?" or has some satisfied voice tone if you actually spare him. She also tries to be your little waifu in the fog level "hmm youuuu knoowwww, it's been a while since we haven't been in a mission without Walter...". Like what the fuck? Alea jacta est: You got played by allmind which is most probably influenced by some other coral thingy like Ayre since they can control mechs. And after that, what is there that is an aberration to the plan? You and that other clown Iguazu! Ayre and Allmind are just playing pokemon watching you and Iguazu try to tickle each other prostate. It's by far not the only moment in the game during which you get thrown against that poor fucker. He gets lured by Allmind who wants to get rid of everybody at once in the alternative Mission 48: Reach the Coral Convergence. Iguazu says something like "They are all here, just like they said." "They" being Allmind, as it is proven in the final fight that Iguazu is indeed played by Allmind too. That's why Allmind tries to kill you. That's why Ayre is so sweet. They're just playing you. You mean nothing and coral is a parasite. The fires of Raven: YOU DID YOUR JOB 621. Nobody manipulated you. You got surgery because you wanted it. You wanted to be a fried-brain maniac commanding a billion-sun powered ice-skating killing machine. You wanted to blow as many things as possible while making millions. Walter hired you for that job, the conditions were set from the beginning and with your own consent. You saved mankind from being absorbed by that sparkly thing. You stopped it from being spread in the entire universe. And on top of that you remained a faithful dog. The third ending is not the good one. It's the one giving you the last pieces of the puzzle. It does not build it for you.

Yeah I know I missed the point. I got enough comments to wake me up to that fact. If I could change my final take away, It wouldn’t be that it’s about a man becoming a machine. It would be closer to a machine-like organism becoming human. Or at least what happens when a living thing is given a choice. Still my favourite game of the year though. Not taking away that statement.

Ac6 made me feel a way i’ve never felt playing a game, the butter smooth combat was so refreshing compared to many other games. The story was so underrated, and i loved the bosses. The game was just fantastic imo and was a 10/10 from me.

I tried to play Baldur’s Gate 3. I saw why people consider it the best game of 2023, but it’s just not for me. Recently, I came back to AC6 and I found myself with a newfound obsession with it. S-ranked all missions last weekend and I’m itching for more. Best game of 2023 for me.

To me, Armored Core 6 was the ultimate gaming example of the new type of hero we've microscoped on (Ex: Chainsaw Man, Goblin Slayer): The Working Hero. There's no good or evil, or greater aspiration to be the "White Knight who saves the princess": it's just the job and doing the best you can at it. You're a little insane and mindless, but if you save people along the way? Great, I guess...

Armored core 6 is about transhumanism Spoilers below Yeah, you really missed the mark here... Coral release is a pandoras box, its a universal scaled singularity of forced evolution where humanity and life as we know it are replaced by something else with unknowable consequences. The second ending only delays the inevitable first or last ending or stands to be the canon ending if we get a sequel. The first ending, where you hold true and destroy the coral is the Human ending, its a rejection of transhumanism and by far the only morally acceptable ending in the game. One species is a small price to pay in order to avoid pandoras box and universal calamity.

It was a great game but by no means my game of the year. I played so much this year and Lies of P takes it for me and in an AC fan since AC1.

It's a solid 7.5/10 game. I didn't feel like I progressed as a pilot at all throughout the game and the missions were mostly incredibly easy and uninteresting. Some of the boss fights were challenging and pretty good. The only above average aspect of the game.
