It's Mega Man X Command Mission that splits from the main timeline. When you face the real Sigma as Zero in Mega Man X8, Sigma straight up tells Zero that he turned Maverick because of the virus from Zero's body. So Zero's ending in Mega Man X6 technically takes place AFTER Mega Man X8 after what Sigma told him. Then the Cyber Elf Wars happen, Zero's consciousness is put in a new body, and then a copy of his new body because Omega took over Zero's original new body, and after the Cyber Elf Wars, Zero goes into stasis again, this time directly leading up to Mega Man Zero 1.
@ShadeTavish Жыл бұрын
5:40 it's literally just a later point in the timeline after X7 and X8 but before the Elf Wars. 8:25 the ending literally says the production of new-gen reploids continued despite Lumine's rebellion. 12:04 there's nothing confusing about this. The Dark Elf is sealed after the Elf Wars and X's body ends up being used as the seal because they couldn't seal her any other way, causing a split from his body; there's nothing confusing other than maybe **exactly** when it happens between the end of the Elf Wars and Copy X's creation.

With this video, that gives me a new perspective. I always viewed the MMZ timeline to be canon, but now I view this as just one timeline. Classic and X remain unchanged, and X6's Zero ending is in the future. Command mission happens in 22XX, but Zero is temporarily reawakened for this. After that's done, Zero is resealed. Then in early 23XX MMZ happens. Given the fact that Alouette is heavily implied to be Prairie from ZX and (I believe) it's stated that Prairie is 200 years old despite looking 14 like Vent/Aile are, that would make sense as ZX and ZXA takes place in 25XX.

I think it's pretty obvious the New Gen Reploids based on Axl were indeed discontinued some time after X8: We got some epilogue text after the credits saying that after it was known they all had Sigma's DNA and were basically able to go Maverick on a whim, the human goverment decreed that production of the New Gen Reploids halted, but that the demands for the space programs made them necessary so they resumed in spite of the dangers. This is probably hinting at the upcoming conflict in X9 with more New Gen Reploids and possibly a Maverick Axl as their leader, but this shows that the world is wary of these kinds of Reploids and if the only solution to make Reploids immune to the virus is to make them extremely dangerous themselves then it's not a solution the human goverment will support, we see this inclination of discontinuing them only stopping out of necessity, if after whatever incident happens in X9 the space project becomes impossible to follow through or the New Gen Reploids prove to be too dangerous, then there's no reason to risk making any New Gens, after a second incident of X8's caliber they will likely be discontinued. But even if they are not discontinued, the New Gen Reploids don't solve the Maverick problem, because even though they are immune, they are also basically Mavericks by design, finding a cure for the virus is the only permanent solution hence why once people realized Zero was the key to creating the ultimate anti-virus for it (The Mother Elf) they went for it, instead of creating more immune Reploids. Keep in mind the Copy Chips were what made them immune, but said Copy Chips had Sigma's DNA implanted from the beginning. Regarding the X Dive statement about MMZ Zero i think that, given the game is from the MMX series' perspective and it incorporates Command Mission elements, it makes sense it says MMZ is said to be "an alternate timeline", because from the X series' point of view, both Command Mission and MMZ are simply possible futures, regardless of what the "canon" path ends up being (which is confirmed in many sources to be MMZ), in the "present" of MMX, that hasn't happened yet, so they simply have the two posibilities.
@Bianca_Di_Giorgio2 жыл бұрын
IMO all Megaman series (except for Battle Network/Starforce I guess) can have moments to split the timeline in two or more possible continuations, like what happens in the case of Ocarina of Time, for example. It's important to remember the drama track of the Elf Wars where it tells another moment that Zero seals himself. Also I have a theory that the ZX saga and Legends are alternative sagas that happen in different periods of time. For example, if we consided Zero losing to Dr. Weil in the Ragnarok, the Earth would probably be destroyed and in Megaman Legends the majority of the planet is covered in water. In Megaman ZX all humans are now a mix with robotic parts, meanwhile in Megaman Legends, The Master was the last human to ever exist and it seems that he didn't have robotic parts (also there are the carbons who basically are the same thing). So, there are so much speculations that we can create and debate and sadly I think that Capcom would never solve this because "Megaman is not as popular as it was back then anymore", a shame. What I know is that at least the fans keep the legacy alive and can make very nice things.
@liteyearsx2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the beefy comment! I enjoy having conversations like these. I also agree we fans do too much of the heavy lifting. That said, it's important to note that the timeline I made was with the specific intent of having as little bias as possible and only take into account of Capcom/Inti Creates's notes and interviews. There certainly are moments where the timeline can branch off. The most popular one is the Bad Ending in X5 leading to Legends. But that isn't backed by any developer interview, unless we count Inti Creates saying "All routes lead to Legends" which is just their interpretation, which is important to emphasize now that Capcom has actively snuffed their name off the Zero Series. As for the Drama CDs, it basically goes: Zero seals himself for research -> Research Team makes Mother Elf -> X uses Mother Elf -> Dr. Weil curses Mother Elf into Dark Elf and steals Zero's body -> Zero gets new body and helps X fight Dark Elf and Omega -> Omega is buried, Dr. Weil is banished -> Zero seals himself again out of guilt. So basically there would be two instances where Zero has sealed himself off. Your split timeline theory is interesting, but the point against it is the Zero series was made by Inti Creates, who ran with the theory I mentioned before. So we know the ZX saga itself would lead to Legends.
@Bianca_Di_Giorgio2 жыл бұрын
@@liteyearsx Haha Thanks as well =) I didn't know about the fact Inti Creates said that statement, so that changes a little. Still the company is no longer producing Megaman stuff so who knows what it could happen in the future. As for the facts of the CD dramas all is 👌🏻(Zero really likes to seal himself LOL) and I noticed that here your video is unbiased, so don't worry =). I would like to hear some of your speculations though, it's really nice to interchange ideas like this.
@liteyearsx2 жыл бұрын
@@Bianca_Di_Giorgio Okay, this is a long one. If I had to speculate, I would first disregard all of Inti Creates' statements to the timeline and go for what would make sense: Classic Series -> X1 to X:CM would be our main timeline. The reason for this is because this is cleanest timeline with no real discrepancies. This would also have X5's Good Ending. This is pretty wildly different than what people subscribe to, but the biggest reason why I think X:CM would be the main timeline and not Zero is because X7 starts an entirely new saga within the X series. Higurashi also digs into the Zero series when he stated that X:CM being in 22XX would mean evolution for Reploids is necessary on a similar level to the Zero series. Zero also straight up just doesn't seem concerned about himself being the carrier of the virus anymore, even though it's still a thing in X:CM, as Marino's backstory indicates she's trying to find research to delete the virus for good. X8 also hints that Zero being a carrier is no longer a concern either, as X told Layer that Sigma tried to use Zero but failed. So this leads me to theorize the possibility that Zero's Ending in X6 actually happened in the main timeline, and Zero has been reawakened by the time X7 rolls around. After all, we have no idea when X7 happens. Considering it took many years to create the Mother Elf, it stands to reason that researchers would need a lot of time to develop a vaccine. So as long as Zero isn't spreading the virus unwittingly, there's no reason to keep him couped up in a pod when he can be fighting with X. The complete absence of Alia, Axl, and the Maverick Hunters also puts a huge question mark on the Zero series since Alia specifically dedicated herself to getting rid of the virus but isn't mentioned even a little bit, likely because Inti Creates didn't want to step on any toes. But overall I feel the Zero series, despite their interesting ideas, leaves us with a lot more questions than answers. None of which I think Capcom will bother trying to fix. X6 (Zero Ending) -> Zero -> ZX -> Legends This is basically the "If Zero decides to stay sealed" timeline. I think this is pretty self-explanatory, as all the research behind this indicates that X6 was the last major event before the Zero series happened. Humans becoming enhanced through technology also supports the idea of them eventually becoming the perfect humans on Elysium. As to why Legends isn't part of the main timeline, it's just too far removed for me to think it's involved, though I'm not against the idea.
@shadowmaster4522 жыл бұрын
Actually I heard a theory once about how Legends was maybe originally thought of as being an alternative future after failing to destroy the Eurasia colony in X5, main proof being the state of the planet in the level select screen if you let it crash, a world where the continents were Split into islands surrounded by water. Another proof of the theory was located in X5's bad ending where X talks about his plans of building Elysium, the same name found in Legends 2. Still, everything has been crafted nowadays to follow classic > X > Zero > Zx > Legends Moving on to the timeline in general I also remember reading about how in the old Zero Collection for DS website it was mentioned that the neo arcadia elevator used to be an old space elevator, possibly being Jakob repurposed into the neo arcadia elevator? And lastly some recent info mentions how Biometal A was truly based on Axl and the reason why it's missing the forehead crystal was the designers playing around with the idea of covering the crystal to limit infection, makes me wonder if in the future Axl will have something to do with model A's creation.

I believe X6 caused the timeline to split. The attack moves of Phoenix Magnion and Omega can confirm that the stories up to X6 exist. But after that, there was no information in Zero/ZX series.
@prometheusmodelow8322 Жыл бұрын
That's simply because X7 was made around the same time as Zero 2, it's not evidence of anything. Also there's not any important rivals of Zero from X7 and X8 that Magnion could have revived, Vile is already there but in his X1 form. With this logic you also say the Xtreme games aren't canon either because Magnion doesn't summon Gareth from Xtreme 2, who was also Zero's rival (the game did come out before Zero 2, unlike X7 and X8 btw), yet we know for a fact Xtreme 2 is canon.

I could be wrong, but iirc the marketing for the Zero/ZX Legacy collection states that it takes *"several* hundred years after the X series", meaning it can still take place after 22XX and in 23XX or 24XX. I believe they even outright said it's 23XX in some advertising material as well, but again I could be wrong. This means that Command Mission could still fit into the main Mega Man timeline, and that ZX in that scenario would be 25XX, since we know for certain that takes place 200 years after Zero 4. Maybe Zero 1 also takes place 200 years after 22XX? That would roughly put ZX in 26XX. Assuming none of that is true though, it's still not hard at all to retcon. As a matter of fact, we already had the whole 3 weeks or 3 years later dilemma in the *same game,* (I forgot which game classic or X game it was, and there's too much to go back on for that one detail) so if they really wanted to, Capcom could just simply say that Command Mission takes place in 21XX and nothing would change. Lets not forget that the first few classic games also said 200X as well, which was also most likely retconned, unless you really want to believe that those games literally took place during the 2000's. *Lol* As for the Zero series being a part of its own timeline, that's literally impossible since Legends exists, unless they want to relegate that whole section to being non-canon too, which just isn't gonna happen. The only series' we know are 100% *not* canon are the Battle Network and Starforce, which are a part of its own isolated continuity since the year dates get mentioned quite a few times. The only way they could be canon in the same universe is if they either retconned all of those mentions or just so happened to use a similar dating system that's coincidental to the times we know of, but both are a big reach even for Mega Man standards. The best case scenario is that it is another separate timeline that is moving at the same rate as the main one that could theoretically make them cross paths, but that's about as far as I'd go in regards to that one. Other than that, this discussion in general has been made to be more complex than it actually should be. I know the Zero and Legends series' have stories, but even so I they are not the biggest priorities, the gameplay still is, just as it always has been for classic and X. It doesn't matter *when* they all happen, it only matters that they *did.* It's kinda how we generalize most of our Earth's real history too if you think about it.

a possiblity is that zero x6 ending would lead to megaman zero timeline , and the elf wars would take place just before zero is sealed. this advent which would delay zero date for the study to be done on his body and possbiy making megaman zero another branch timeline. since x6 zero body would have the upgrades of the elf wars. in this alternate branch there are no new generation reploids along with axl, since both would never been created in this timeline. while in another x6 timeline the process to study zero body would have been speed up form 100 years to a few weeks possible making x7 timeline more adanvced than the megman zero timeline.

First thing,i once heard somewhere, that the Zero ending in X6 was set in an unspecified future after X7 and X8. I don't know where i heard it from but i did. Second, the new generation reploids in X8 are Sigma himself, or at least his DNA, so all of them are able to rebell against the humans at any time, making them Sigma-infused mavericks from the beginning on, so it might very well be canon. Third yes, I also think COmmand Mission is not canon or at least alternate. At last, i think Neo Arcadia existed for some time longer into the elf wars, as Dr. Weil was banished from it (while it existed). And my (un)popular opinion: I say the Zero series is so much canon. Maybe Capcom disagrees in X Dive, probably because MMZ is depressing and any franchise made today doesn't allow this amount of edginess (for example, see the new Star Wars trilogy shitting on the much better Legends story, or Marvel screwing up Phase 4). But this is exactly what i love. I literally cried over X's death in MMZ 3 and I'm furious that capcom just shits on his sacrifise by making another boring mobile game and rendering the Zero series alternate (sorry X Dive fans, I just prefer real skills over "how to upgrade everything so the game becomes boringly easy").

This was a very great video and pretty much matches my view of the timeline and explains it well. people saying x7 and x8 arent canon really can be annoying. day of sigma is a part of maverick hunter x which is meant to be a complete reboot of the series since inafune didnt like the path it took and would be an alternate universe version of x1 though i think some of the information in it can still be valid as a secondary canon while other stuff isnt. Regarding stuff like zero's x6 ending, instead of calling it non canon, i think its best to say its after the entire x series as theres no time period given and it matches up what happens much later in the series. mega man x7 also references copy x with a bad dream that zero has of a seemingly maverick x. this may sound like speculation but snipe anteater actually supports this since he directly says he can see images of the future from zero and zero simply dismisses it as rambling to defeat him. new generation reploids are also deemed illegal after the events of x8 and had to be illegally reproduced. something like the sigma virus adapting wouldnt be surprising either as reploids constantly get stronger along with sigma himself each time. command mission points were spot on, mega man zero official works officially calls it an alternate future that takes place at the time period of zero where zero never happened along with a bunch of other statements supporting this. I personally wouldnt take x dive statements seriously as they are a completely different team making a completely different series with different lore and as you said there can also be mistranslation issues. irregardless there would still be a split between command mission and zero in the end with zero being considered the mainline one but it doesnt really matter in the end in the end timeline 1 classic>x>zero>zx>legends timeline 2 classic x>command mission>????>legends timeline 3 battle network>star force Edit: timelines above are basically just the main canon following what truly happened ignoring alternate scenarios/or others endings like x not getting zeros parts in x2 (which doesnt change much tbh) and the alternate x5 ending which doesnt happen
