Shoto players actually have an unspoken code that only one Shoto may be considered “Good” at a given time. It’s like the Sith rule, except somehow even more restrictive than the evil space cult

IMO all three are well balanced, if you take into account all the factors like executional barrier.

That's a big ass cap. Nobody is saying Ryu is bad, they say he's not good in competitive play which is true. This is literally the first time he won something major, not only that the entire year he was barely in any major tournament and when he was IN it, he didn't even place in Top 30. Nobody is arguing he's not good in ranked, but the stats don't lie for competitive play.
@emperormegaman3856Ай бұрын
@Anonymous-gq7ho When it comes to competitive, a shoto nit being represented have more to do with the fact that most competitive shoto players will play whoever is currently the best shoto (which make sense strategically). So even if a shoto is viable, if he is less viable than the rest. Which I think is kinda what oh was referring to, I think. Even if a shoto is good (and I'm not talking about Ryu specifically here), you'd have people saying he sucks because compared to [best shoto] he isn't as good.
@workoutfanatic7873Ай бұрын
@@emperormegaman3856 I get the archetype argument. I just don’t think it applies given how different the shotos play. As a Ken player, learning Ryu is intuitive only up to a point, then I have to learn all his setups, safe jumps, frame traps, gimmicks, etc. Ken plays very very differently from either Ryu or Akuma. Akuma very different from Ryu. Ken doesn’t even have a normal overhead. Even the most braindead bnb combos are different (cr. jab jab jab X DP). Ken can’t do that, he’s gotta do a standing jab last or standing short. If I had to switch, I’d use Cammmy, Jamie or Juri instead. Maining Ken / Ryu / Akuma was do-able in USF4, I did so. But even in that game all three played very differently. Ken was rush down Kara focused, step kick the most important button; Akuma was flexible; Ryu was more zoning. So I ended up pocketing Rose, Yun, Sagat and Cammy. SF6 is just another level of complexity in regards to specials, corner pressure (no Corning yourself accidentally except for very specific situations).

I wouldn't say it's too close. Ryu is like B tier. Ken and Akuma are A and S tier. It could be argued that Ryu is A tier as well, but he doesn't have any sauce. Kusanagi won with straight up fundamentals. He could have done this with any character, given time

Example being if Bison does OD Crusher amd it burns you out on the FIRST hit than the final hit will have the extra advantage but if it burns you you on the last hit then it won't

Man I hear this ranger talk and my brain immediately goes to AD&D. Isn't ranger just a fighter with a bow? Or was it a rogue with a bow? I know Druid was just a suggestion for making Homebrew classes, in this case using a Cleric focused on Nature kinda gods instead of Traditional Holy. (which if anything means that Ranger is a subclass of Fighter. And need something of the power level of getting their own fortress and 100 or so men-at-arms at level 10 like normal Fighters)

I love players doing analysis on their own matches. This is a TOTAL tangent from why you made this comment but I don't have many FG friends to talk to things about XD I've always been a player, in any game who is almost too hard on themselves. I've almost never tilted in games like League from teammate's mistakes, (definitely can happen when I've had a bad day though), but I almost constantly tilt when I mess up something myself. Honestly, one of the things I was really sensitive about learning the game was just how often I made stupid mistakes that I knew I needed to stop doing. But hearing that even pros can have these moments honestly did more to inspire me to keep learning, and understanding that I don't need to be perfect to eventually be really good at the game was more important to me than just being OK with losing. One thing that video really did for me was make me feel less bad on Aki for missing my 2LP 5LK link constantly. I'm still missing it even reaching plat, and it was really putting a damper on my will to keep learning. But hearing that occasionally (even if it's super rare), that Broski opted for an easy Tourney safe combo (I believe he did 5MP PC, Snakestep Kicks straight into super to win a round) because he didn't want to drop a link he'd done 1000s of more times than i probably have, helped put into perspective that it's OK to not be hitting basic shit even as you get better, and keep learning. It can happen to anyone, and anyone can feel uncomfortable doing something even after they've put in 10s of times more time than I have. I went from feeling like poop every time I missed that link to just letting it happen and moving on just because of small comments like that.

About the FG champ selects: I'm getting a friend into Tekkie, and he is a smartypants, so I figured he would understand champ select the best as follows: Pick whoever you think looks cool and feels good on the hands, if you pick a character purely due to how strong they are or how easy they are to learn, then you're more likely than not to not have the drive to keep finding new things and improving your gameplay. If you are completely interested in a character you will want to play the game even if you're not invested in it, so if you pick a character purely by logic and you stick to the game, you would do that anyway, so it is easier to cover all bases by picking someone cool because then you're probably going to have more time to understand the game and be better than you would if you chose by logic. Yes, I like to state the same thing in 4 different ways because it makes me feel smart. (real) (not false)
