@Briana Ankels I recommend using magnesium glycinate (best for price / efficiency) . Many of the other forms have low bioavailability and some a potent laxative effect if the dose is high enough. 1000mg glycinate morning empty stomach if you can tolerate it, 1000mg 2 hours before bed (maybe 1 hour after dinner)

Great video once again, Thanks a lot for this support and shared experience. although I disagree about having food so often. For me fasting and A LOT of green tea works better on my off- days. And thought my experience with methylphendidate made my head an anxious & raging mess 24/7, switching to elvanse 30 3 y ago made my life finally worth living. I’ve never experienced a crush with this med & dosage. Have been on same dosage fo 3 years and no need to level up that one. BUT - I never expected that treatment make me a superwoman or gong to get some extra degrees or running three obs at once. I just wanted to manage the basic family life and every now and than being on time. The main reason to start taking meds was my son (and family life in general). I just wanted to save him from hearing me screaming and being anxious, late, fired etc. After been raised by ADHD father, you really will do anything to stop that risky and traumatising experience from spreading any further.

Something else that is helpful to consider that he did not really delve into- caffeine. I noticed how you drink caffeine can radically change the crash. If you're caffeine sensitive, avoid caffeine at all costs. It will make it 10x worse. But if you are not caffeine sensitive, I noticed timing caffeine with about an hour before your med crash starts works perfectly. I would also say avoid taking caffeine for the first few hours after you have taken your meds, as I have noticed this can also make it worse. Basically, target most of your caffeine later in the day rather than earlier, works perfect as long as you don't drink too much.

I have had a similar experience. Whenever I take caffeine (even just tea) it softens the blow significantly. I have almost no crash now. Or at least I don’t crash until ~10pm when I’m already heading to bed anyway. However, if I take too much caffeine; let’s say espresso shots, then I can’t sleep at all until like 2am.

You're only a few weeks in. Don't get entrenched, just quit. ADHD isn't a real disorder, they don't do any biological testing. Definitely you probably lack focus, like majority of people. You can overcome this lack of focus, by practicing focusing. Just practice, and develop your thinking and focusing skills. Over time you'll get way better at focusing.

Your dose may be too high or you may need a non stimulant. Either way from the time of posting it looks like it’s been a month so just enough time for you to speak with your health care professional and find a better solution for your needs. It’s a bit of trial and error at first, but once you get it right it’s worth it. Also, take regular med holiday breaks. I.e. don’t dose on weekends or whenever your days off are it helps the body reset. And lastly look into natural supplements like magnesium idk how it helps but it does. Hornbeam is a Bach Flower Essence Remedy and Ashwaghanda is a natural adaptagen. Both can be found at your local vitamin store. Try those when you’re on a med holiday and see if that helps.

Can agree with small and nourishing food all-through the day. I know it´s not clinical, but ayurvedic lifestyle helped tremendously in my ADHD journey. In fact, they place the ADD mind as an imbalance in your air/vata. And when it comes to meals, they recommend multiple light and nourishing foods through the day, instead of gigantic meals that stress the digestive system, and therefore the mind. Found it really helpful, as big meals make me crash and mentally space out. These days, one hour before the Concerta crash, i´ve been taking low-glucemic cooked fruits with nuts and ghee. The sustained glucose of the fruits and the protein from the almonds and cajus keep me light yet energetic for two hours, so the concerta falloff is much smoother, almost goes unnoticed. Hope it helps. Also. i know it is painful, but living caffeine free for years made an abysmal difference. Replaced coffee with just hydration and electrolytes. Cold showers also are a great resource.

I’ve gone through crashes and withdrawal numerous times. Each time, it seems impossible because that’s what the brain thinks. And not gonna lie, the first bunch of times are rough and the majority of the withdrawal symptoms proceed for a few days. After about 3 days, when the meds are out of your bloodstream, the physical withdrawal symptoms mostly go away. However, after going through this so many times, you can get used to it and it’s not as bad, you eventually start to have natural energy return. At first i remember I was bed ridden and I thought I can’t function without it… but turns out each time, after a few days of being off it, your body actually starts feeling healthier and happier

Even everyone at work asks me days im not on meds (mondays at work im not on meds) they ask me “bro are you okay? You look dead” lolll I notice even with my tolerance just a 70mg will do the job just fine. It gives me the stimulation and attention for about 8 hours but after im just sleeping like a baby lol. I just like to feel high off the amphetamines but this isn’t the intent of the medication. I redose just out of pure fear of facing the withdrawal and crash. It’s not that bad physically speaking aside from sleeping for 16 hours and eating out ur entire fridge lol and depression but for me around hour 10 - 12 just before the actual crash I get horrible depression and the accumulation of negative thoughts I was escaping till this point just come back like a freight train. I don’t feel like myself off meds. Even 4 month break I kinda felt the same emotionally throughout if anything it got worse Idk what to do. Even opening my mouth tk a healthcare professional will have dramatic repercussions not only for all my relationships but also work. I can’t just one day show up doing a half ass job with no motivation like I had I’m debating going back to meth just to be there as a person to my family on the weekends. At least when I’m high I act like the best version of myself and give everyone my full attention and presence I need help. I don’t expect you to know how to help me, but rather take this into perspective on how addictive these substances can be. I never taken adderall or anything bdfore vyvanse and was lied to by false marketing stating vyvanse is “less addictive” man I’ll fucking wipe my ass with that label considering it’s literally dictating my life currently. As stated in the Netflix original “Take Your Pills” some doctor said currently we are facing an epidemic with the opioid crisis but not far just below that list, the next “crisis” will be with stimulant medication because it is currently being massively overprescribed “One drug to change your life in exchange for it all” Man I don’t know what the future holds. I’m probably gonna die a young death I hope I do at least… After knowing amphetamines flood the brain with such an unnatural level of dopamine and nothing else in life literally would ever come close, and also knowing dopamine is what controls a huge part of our actions and feelings, knowing that recovered addicts decades after still never feel as happy as they once did …. An early death would be a happy death for me. I don’t want to carry on just to be tortured

Even if you lower your dose it makes no difference in conclusion youll still crash. Its just like mdma or ecstasy or cocaine or any stimulants you are bound to crash its just the consequence of taking meds. I suggest you try the Wim Hof Method.
@edgarbenjoseph38793 жыл бұрын
@Stu I've started last week. I don't have the best focus, but I don't have ADHD either. However, the method really helped improve my sleep, gives me more energy and it has actually improved my focus. Not by aloy yet, but I do see a difference. It also helped me purge some negative emotions. It helps heal certain emotions for sure. It's quite powerful to be honest. I knew about the positive psychological and spiritual benefits of breathwork for years now, but it's only last week I started doing it every day seriously. I've read some people's testimonies in KZbin comments after 6 months or 1 year of using the method. They say it helped them tremendously with their chronic pain, anxiety, sleep, energy levels, emotional control, etc. Wim Hof is doing lots of scientific research to back up his claims. If you read his book, you can learn more about the medical benefits of his technique :) I highly recommend it for sure.
@edgarbenjoseph38793 жыл бұрын
@Stu You don't need to do the cold therapy. Just doing the breathing exercises help a lot. I recommend you try it for a week everyday and just see how it feels :) He has an 11 minute guided breathing video on KZbin. It's the one I do atleast once a day. Give it a try, who knows lol

My family doctor would see this as me not adapting well to the meds. Perhaps he is worried about the depressive symptoms. I found both times I stop used my meds, the 1st day off is the worse. Second day I feel like a manageable hangover, 3rd day off I feel back to pre-meds. What worked this time was strangely, going outside to get fresh air, drinking coffee, and working on the rest. The feeling is very unpleasant and quite debilitating so I would get off the meds on a pretty unproductive day.

@dominikab56632 жыл бұрын
i had a really hard time with that too :c (getting better now, by some miracle !!) something that has been helpful is having something to drink to fill in the gaps. i find that it's a little easier to stomach when the last thing you wanna do is eat. I really like smoothies and protein shakes. I also go shopping every week or so for snacks that make me happy so that I have more attractive options for when I should get something in my stomach. At the end of the day, anything is better than nothing. You need fuel, so you might as well make fueling up a little easier on yourself.

So my bf is on 20 mg amphetamine XR. He left his medication somewhere and now he is nine days short. He hasn’t had it in like 5 days. He woke up this morning throwing up all the liquids in his stomach. He was sweating and cold and had bad stomach cramps. I monitor his meds and make sure he takes them correct. But we left them unattended and it left him 9days short. Do you think that he could be going through withdrawal. He took it every morning once a day. Then stopped cold turkey because he was out due to them being missing.
