I do enjoy that they have kinda referenced the hate of spiders in spidermans comic. Obviously his villains talk about crushing him like a bug and all that, but my favourite quote is when he has to beat a thug who has a hostage. "What are you doing?" "I'm summoning them. I'm summoning the spiders. Because I'm SPIDER-MAN!" And, understandably, the thug surrenders. Because fuck that.
@diegobrando34094 жыл бұрын
He also had a moment in the comics where he lost his voice, and still went out fighting crime. Being silent made him so intimidating to the crooks that one started to have a nervous break down while Spider-Man just slowly approached him and he just dropped to the ground begging Spider-Man not hurt him. When asked about the sudden change in character he whisper "I've been having issues with my throat". So that that means Spider-Man's big pointed almost cartoony eyes only look friendly when he is quiping and making friendly small talk, when he is just beating your buddies senseless one by one and fixes his pointy insect like eyes on you he is just as scary as Batman can be.

Spider-Man also wears a mask so that his enemies dont see his fear when he is fighting them. Its probably not Stan Lee's original intention, but I freakin love whoever added that idea into the lore. I think the Batman line about Superman was more along the lines of "When you see him doing the things he does, it's hard not to think of him as a god. We are so fortunate that he never sees it that way" which I think is far more powerful of a statement. The idea that Kal El, the Man of Steel, the Man of Tomorrow, the man Ra's Al Ghul refers to as 'Icon', feels deep down that his true self is Clark Kent, the clutzy, nerdy reporter from Smallville. Talking about mr incredible, my favorite part about that second film is him struggling to support Elastigirl but doing it anyway, swallowing his own pride, and while he struggles with parenting, he works at it. he stays up all night so he can teach dash math, he admits when jakjak is too much and while he might not have been rational in his decision making, he finds *someone* to help. He struggles connecting to violet, be he tries. He works at being a parent, for the first time in his life. and he isn’t blue ribbon out the gate, but his commitment to bring a parent when elastigirl can’t is so against type it’s worth mentioning.

This makes me think of the x-force character "Strong Guy", who in the comics is a giant joke-cracking juggernaut. His powers are that he can absorb kinetic energy and convert it to muscle and bone mass, allowing him to have short-term hulk-like super strength. It's not til many comic series in that he reveals that his powers cause him constant incredible nearly debilitating pain from the rapid increase and decrease of muscle and bone. And he cracks jokes as a defense mechanism to hide the pain so his friends dont worry about him.

For those who never watched the show in the "Ultimate Spider-Man" television show when Miles Morales from another earth gets stuck in Peter's universe they come up with the name Kid-Arachnid instead of calling both peter and miles spiderman

My favorite superhero with a name ending in man is WOMAN-MAN. A guy was bitten by a radioactive woman and now he solves crime with all the abilities of a woman. It's a skit on CBC the irrelevant show.

In my high school band class, we played the music for the Spider-Man theme, but just from the notes, I could tell the original lyrics were “Spider-guy, Spider-guy, does whatever a spider does, spins a web, watch out, here comes the Spider-Guy.” It sounded like the music was originally tuned to that, just my thoughts.

Your bit about superman reminds me of what I keep telling people, Supermans best moment in both comics and in animation was The death of superman. I say this as someone who doesn't like current superman but not because I enjoy seeing superman die. I love the story so much because you get to see him struggle and fight, and refuse to go down to protect anyone and everyone he can. The only time he finally stops getting up to fight is when he is told that the monster he has been fighting is finally down. He refused to stop and refused to die until Doomsday died either before him or with him.

with his power set, sticking to walls, sensing something about to hit him and jumping away at the last moment , he should have been "Fly-man"

I find it funny how Miles Morales tag line is "Be yourself" while he leeches off Peter Parker's life. It's also becoming clear that people didn't pay attention to Peter Parker's life.

Spider-man has always been my favorite hero. I was obsessed as a child. I'm still kind of obsessed. The character was a major part of my childhood, and influenced who I am today, including a passion for science/engineering. Just wanted to share my love for the hero, as I hardly get to talk about it anymore.

I love the conversation at the end talking about Superman being "human". It's the reason why I really can't get into the DCCU is because everyone constantly wants to portray Superman as this fish out of water character who doesn't belong here, but that's not who superman was, he was sent here as a baby, he's effectively an Earthling with special powers, just like any of the other earthlings with special powers, and to treat him like a fish out of water alienates us(ironically) from the character.

another topic of humanity that comes to my mind is the conversation between Master Chief and Captian Lasky at the end of Halo 4. They talk about being a good soldier basically is no different from being a machine and Lasky reminds him that they all are human.

The more I find out about Spider-Man, the more I like him. He’s quickly becoming my favorite hero. A close second for me is the Batman of the future, Terry McGinnis who is another teenage hero. My favorite iteration of Bruce Wayne as Batman comes from the DCAU from the 90s to early/mid 2000s. That scene with Ace in Justice League Unlimited is great. But all of that said, Spider-Man is so loved, because he always tries to do what is right no matter what

I heard somewhere that one of the reasons Spider-Man is covered from head to toe is to conceal not only Peter Parker's age but also his race (and to some extent gender). This was to done to emphasize that nothing about Peter Parker's background makes him any more worthy to be Spider-Man than the next guy and that it's Peter's good nature that makes him a Superhero. I'm not sure if this is true, but it is something to think about.

Spider-Man is great because when I was his age I wanted to be him, and now I'm the age of the actors who play him, I want to protect him but I still relate

This is why I really like the Jessica Cruz and Simon Baz dynamic in the Green Lanterns run from a while ago. I would've liked that series to continue so much, I feel like there was a lot there that should've been resolved there, because of the way it was written and because of how fucking brilliant the dynamic was when it came out. If you haven't read it, basically you have two newbie Green Lanterns, Simon Baz, who's been around for a little bit beforehand, and Jessica Cruz, who was pretty much brand-new at the time (at least as far as being a Lantern goes, she got a storyline before it which was covered pretty well in animated form in, I think it might've been Justice League vs Fatal Five, maybe something like that). Baz has a bit of a checkered past and only really got his ring because it was being controlled by Sinestro looking for someone a lot like him, but he's been using it to become a better person. Jessica, through a similar vein, was given an Earth-3 Power Ring. That's significant, because the Sinestro Corps and the Power Ring are basically one in the same in terms of how they work. She had a traumatic experience and has been totally agoraphobic ever since, but the way she utilized her fear was for the better, and that took an amount of willpower strong enough to get the attention of the strongest Green Lantern ring that had ever been made. And she can barely use it because when we meet her she's just not very strong of will. They're great. They have a buddy-cop dynamic, it explores them learning about themselves, it's just, it's really good.
