The biggest problem with this advice on both of these hands is that at low stakes it is really rare that you are playing in a heads up pot, and playing a multiway pot in this manner is just lighting your money on fire.

In the A5 example we also have a backdoor broadway straight draw. Not that valuable by itself but it improves the Kh and Jh turn cards to being stronger draws that we can be more confident continuing with. In fact four of the ten turn cards we can get that improve us to a flush draw come with added straight equity.
@edward69022 жыл бұрын
A5h has three back door draws on that QcTd3h flop...the nut flush, the bike and broadway. And there are twenty turn cards that really bump up the value on that hand...AAA/KKKK/JJJJ/2h/3h/4h/6h/7h/8h/9h/Th/Qh...and there are three fives to look for too

I don't know about that bluff raising with A5, seems like giving that direction to amateurs is going to be bad for their wallets.

What should my bluff raise amount be? Also, if the player seems to have legitimate hand based on how he plays the turn card, am I still commited to calling down, even if the turn card eliminates my backdoor draws? Sorry for the poor English.

One of the things you seem to constantly leave out of your instructional videos is stack size vrs stack size and the size of C-bets and raising bets. Imo, the info is next to useless otherwise. A5s raises flop (last example). The total outs add up to a little over 30% or so. So any Q, T or pocket pair above 5 wins against. If I'm a LAG...maybe I fold if opponent has a sizeable stack compared to mine and the bluff raise bet is substantial. Against a player bluffing multiple hands and/or very short stacked, it's a call with basically any pair.

R B 12 minutes ago Personally, I hate A5. I don’t use it as my bluffing hands. Why, because it can never be the nut straight… and lots of people play wide at my local casino - so they could call with 56s (some could call with 56o). So I use A4 and A3 suited as my bluffing hands … also don’t use A2 as a bluff for the same reason.
@afish122 жыл бұрын
Your logic is flawed here. A4 and A3 can't make the nut straight either. Also, A5 would be better if you are afraid of your opponents hitting a stronger straight since you block 65.

Emptying the clip on A5 after a bluff raise, if they hang around that’s a big clip to empty in big stakes. Suicidal. That’s a pro move cause they reload. Beginners go home 200-500 lighter.

Anyone play poker online... I am new to it, been playing for the last 2 months almost daily, and the hands I lose to are really weird, I am beginning to think these websites have their own bots that play, some calls I've seen, they are way behind, runner runner = straight or 2 pair... it's just weird
@00_Jones2 жыл бұрын
A little tip... No matter where you go or where you play, regardless of the stakes, you will feel really weird of things that happen when you lose. If you understand that going in to any game it helps. And yes, online imo, is the weirdest (maybe because more hands can be played in an hour) but happens even in live games. I played online everyday when I first started as well. It's a perfect way to start to learn the game. When you're ready, find a local pub that plays a tournament and learn to read players live. Master both online play and live before going big. 17 years of xp. Wish you luck! Unless we're at the same table.

I don't think you understand the term "float". Calling with middle pair (top kicker), back door nut flush draw, back door straight draws and aces up outs is FAR, FAR from "floating". You're actually almost always ahead on this flop with A-10 so I really have no idea what you are talking about and could not continue watching.

Calling outs "equity" is more hope than truth.
@mortalhordewarrior92852 жыл бұрын
How so? I've been thinking this myself but what brought you to this conclusion?
@MrDavePed2 жыл бұрын
@@mortalhordewarrior9285 It is self evident. You are assigning value to an out. The out represents about 2% probability. Do people mentally calculate 2% x the number of outs to arrive at a good decision or do they "assign equity" instead? They are two different things because "assigning equity" does not have a precise numerical value. It is a real nice way to stroke your ego and pretend that a gamble is a carefully calculated risk when in fact it is just a license to gamble. 8 outs? 9 outs? That's a bad bet. You have to go all the way up to 13 outs just to have a 30% chance. STILL a bad bet but hey.. you assigned equity so maybe there's a good real estate deal hidden in there somewhere. I just don't like that kind of language because is strokes the ego, promoting a false justification for taking imprudent poorly calculated risk instead of laying out the barebones facts. There's negative equity in 6 outs or even an open ended straight draw. NEGATIVE equity so why assign equity to that? The smart move as usual is the early fold. Draws are not equity, draws are not value. They are a gambler's hope.
@MarkoAssi_pokervlogger2 жыл бұрын
Equity stated in percentage is your chance to hit your out...on average...over many many deals. Not necessarily on that hand.
@MrDavePed2 жыл бұрын
@@MarkoAssi_pokervlogger Yes your chance to hit on each and every hand, the fact that you use the word "chance" covers the random result perfectly. The point is we are not computers we are people who would like to think our gambling is something more sophisticated. Pros overcome this through a lot of lost money but the rest of us should not be entranced by the word "equity". Pot odds ultimately determines if a bet is justified or not, not simply the number of out but how much you will have in the pot if you bet. We are not human calculators. Even knowing pot odds leads to many unwise betting decisions because of the lack of context pure math fails to impart. I'm just saying don't let a word like "equity" legitimize a bad bet. It is better to not bet much on draws but rather only on the cards you already have. Betting a little is ok since you are not the only contributor to the pot but really, unless you are bluffing then just bet according to the real "equity" of your hand not what it might be.
@rohuisman61782 жыл бұрын
@@MrDavePed it is good to have bluffs in this spot so you can balance your range. And rather than doing this random that 2-3% equity overall in the long run does work out in your favor. This is much more useful against regs though so im not sure everyone should follow this but it is definitely not a bad strategy.
