I loved this game back in the day. Actually just beat it for the first time this week on an emulator. Any idea why the blue weapons are so bad / is there any scenario where it makes sense to use it ??

No idea on why the blue weapon is bad. It just has the lowest damage output and since it is a spread weapon, you're losing out on even more damage if all the stars don't hit. It does, however, have the fastest charge up time (the bar in the top corner). It is good for crowd control in the third level especially in that orange sponge looking stage, but at that point you might as well use the red weapon. I t does the same as the blue but better.

It's so badass as you attack continuosly some bosses don't giving a f*ck to be hitted, kind of "do you wanna see who falls first?" Kids had dreams finishing this game, just think about speedrun..

I can get through tis game pretty comfortably I think. Soon, I am going to try and do my first ever speedrun to try and get on the leaderboard. If I were to do this, how do I set up the panel on the left side of the screen with the times? Great speedrun too btw!

played this game so much as a kid, i think it was the first Genesis game i completed. Didnt realize people would try to speed run this because of the on-rails nature of it, but i guess people do. I would be so nervous about speeding through 3.3. That Boss tech of leaving the spinner is very sweet, i never realized the different attack patterns were tied to those and not his health actual questions: why didn't you pick up all those extra lives in 1.1, 1.2, 2.1, and 2.3? Being on 3 lives most of the game had me so on edge. Do you know the difference between Orange and Blue? I usually stuck with Green after the second Harley Quinn boss, but last i played about a year ago I switched between the non-Blues.

I don't remember if there is a reason to avoid picking up extra lives, but I believe when you die you lose some (all?) of your powerups. So, if I die a few times or in a bad place, the run is over anyway. I don't know the full story on the blue weapon, I just know that it is bad. The other top runners told me to avoid blue if possible. @topazdragoon3998 - Is blue just weaker at all power levels? Any idea why it exists? If I remember right, at full power, Orange is the strongest if you can connect with all the spread shots - which requires you to be close to the target. In cases where you can't get close, green may be a better option.

@@AFrame i think i remember the fact that blue has the fastest charge, maybe i recall the lowest damage part? would be interesting to test throughout 1.X at least or for you to run the whole game with it. My Genesis is on loan so I can't readily test it myself when you get down'd your weapon loses 3 levels i think? so red would go from 3 batarangs to 1

12:12 This level is the reason I don't see myself speedrunning this game. Auto scroller with not many opportunities to speed things up. Am I right, A?

Yeah man, this part could be half as long and that would be fine with me. Topaz, the WR holder, has all of the enemy spawns memorized, so he is able to cut some time - but even then it goes on too long.

Spade's got it - X-Men 2 holds a special place being my first speedrun. That said, I don't know that I'll ever go back to it. I really like Chakan, but only ran it for a short time. That may be one I'd want to go back to.

Hrm, I'd be open to a SNES run. I'm not sure which game I would pick. The Genesis games are usually fun because they aren't as popular as Nintendo. There are often new strats/tech to be discovered.
