I watched it with my dad two years back and by God it has the best practical effect

Great review of a tremendous early German film, the oldest (surviving) animation, as you say. I have the Brtish Film Institute Blu-Ray of it, and it is a really stunning film. Lotte Reininger also used the first multi-plane camera to get some of the extraordinary effects, giving the film its great depth of backgrounds in many scenes. A truly wonderful movie.

Thank you so much, you are welcome :) I only heard about the film shortly before myself because a friend of mine recommended it to me.

This is really fantastic. I didn’t know about this movie or even this kind for that matter. Feels similar to shadow puppets? To think what they achieved with limited means, but elaborate procedures. I liked your review where you gave an insight into the background into the history of animated film making too.

Yes it's similar to shadow puppets for sure :) I'm happy you enjoyed the video.

@@TheJimmyCage I enjoy your videos nevertheless. I would love to have a discourse with you over films or in general. You seem like a good conversationalist. :)
