It interrupted her Hollywood career but certainly did not end it. After all, she won two more Oscars after all that happened.

Old Hollywood star Ingrid Bergman was a natural, beauty, and my favorite actress -- she has some great films. Can you believe america had a house sub-committee on Ingrid Bergman, blows my mind!😯 There's so many but I choose -- Gaslight w/Charles Boyer. (Notorious.) Rest in peace beautiful one.🌹🌹🌹🌹 Ingrid Bergman died on her 67th birthday -- bummer.😢💔

"Discreet" is my favorite performance from Bergman. She owns the camera in that fulm and IMO, she is the only person, let alone woman who can out cool the stallion that is Cary Grant. Her stare goes well beyond 1000 yards.

Anastasia's movie along with Casablanca are some of her best

Ingrid Bergman did not deserve the horrible treatment the American public dished out to her. It was nothing to do with them and for them to shut her out just because she found happiness and love, it was down right mean, unjust and cruel and worse then what she ever did. Also Peter sounded like a horrible person keeping Pia away from her for 7 years and I believe he was also having an affair with another actress but that was perfectly alright because why he's a man? How ridiculous and hurtful. And for him to win custody over her daughter when she needed Ingrid the most, it was absolutely disgraceful. I've never liked her first husband after hurting her like that. I absolutely adore Ingrid Bergman and as long as she was happy with Roberto, that's all that should matter. She had three more beautiful children with him, and her Italian films were also great and very underrated. Journey to Italy is my favourite of her Italian films and my top three overall favourite movies are Casablanca (absolutely classic and wonderful movie along with Humphrey Bogart), Spellbound (a classic where I think she is the most beautiful and with Gregory Peck my gosh was he handsome) and Anastasia (she showed Hollywood just how wonderful and amazing she really was to come back after they treated her so cruelly). I absolutely adore and love Ingrid Bergman with my whole heart, and I couldn't imagine Hollywood or movies being the same without her. No other actress could have beaten her role in Casablanca. She IS Ilsa Lund and there's NO denying how amazing she really was. I love you Ingrid, and I hope all of America regrets what they did to you. 💖💖💖💖💖

she abandoned her child for her lover and wouldn´t come to america to see her child per her custody arrangement because her new husband didn´t want her to, some mother, celebrities back then treated their kids like a glorified pet they left them with someone and went to shoot, hell even after ingrid left rosellini she also abandoned her 3 children that lived in an apartment with the nanny

She "found love?" Please. She's a serial cheater. Back in those days Americans at least pretend to have moral values.
@mariasmith94605 ай бұрын
@GizmoMaltese Oh please, don't tell me it wasn't going on with other stars and yet the same fuss wasn't bad about them as it was about Ingrid. Lots of the male actors had affairs and that was overlooked. How was Ingrid any worse? She wasn't but she got shut out. Some American morals that is.

I have two favorite roles for Ingrid Bergman. The first Anastasia and her character in Murder on the Orient Express. Anastasia was a leading role and the second was a less prominent. The role in Murder on the Orient Express was one that is remembered anytime people talk about that movie. She was and still is remembered as an actress of great talent and versatility, one of the best ever.
@mpetersen6 Жыл бұрын
I tend to think of Maria in For Whom the Bell Tolls and Ilsa in Casablanca. And Bergman, Bogart and Rains make Casablanca. With different leads it would just be another B movie.

I also chuckle about the american Senators that thought her immoral but they themselves were more immoral than she....

Ingrid started my love with movies. I think her best performance was in BELLS OF ST. MARY'S for which she won New York's Film Circle Award and Golden Globe for best actress. I sneak down and watch her films as kid in the 1950s before she was cleared from the scandal.. There are other great actors but she is among the best. Her facial expressions alone turn n the performance. I think her 1940s Hollywood films are the best.

My favorite Ingrid's performance is first of all, herself: I was and I'll always be fascinated by her personality, her unique style and beauty; I think she is forever wonderful. My favorite characters of hers : Goodbye again, Spellbound, The visit.

Reading Ingrid’s autobiography, it seemed her marriage to Petter was already falling apart. He was overly dominant and harsh towards her sometimes making her uncomfortable and nervous around him. The public only saw it as a perfect marriage on the surface so they were outraged that Ingrid would leave a loving husband and daughter and embarked upon an affair. All family has their difficulties so I guess one shouldn’t be so quick to judge.

Ingrid should have ended her marriage to her first husband as she had many relationships before Rossellini. But being European she may have thought this was an acceptable way to live. I don't think Peter ever loved any woman more.

Looks like with time when matters need changes? mindset digress to lower the sense of 'Liberty' & raise the attitude of immoral to liberty scale. The Holly Wood did a great ,by banning Ingrid due to her affair with a Italian director,which would not have been so in 70s. I hope such liberal mentality extends towards national security too?
