Ok so I just wanted to point this out as a comment has pointed out the current lore of FNaF: William in my AU is Glitchtrap. But, to make The Mimic its own separate thing, I’m gonna try and find a way to separate the two whilst still having some form of link. Hope that explains things, have fun!

Don't worry. I am a FNAF theorist and I'm all about the games. I can assure you that Glitchtrap and Mimic are definitely very different, and there is no possible way for them to be the same being in the games. There is literally no evidence. So this isn't an AU, instead, it's the actual canon. In fact, believers of "Tales books in Games canon/GlitchMimic/Burntrap = Mimic" are all headcanons/AUs. So you are correct.
