Her expressions when she found out he named it after her is truly amazing. The expression is mixed with hurt, as well as the question why. Also regret and curiosity. And also acknowledgement as to how much he loved her. I don’t think she knows entirely how much though until later on.

He met Adelaide in the 60s and named the comet (presumably) in 1981. He never stopped wondering about her; love mysteriously vanished. Adelaide had to mask her emotions in order to survive. In this scene the emotions you mention were expressed so fleetingly, subtly, honestly.

This scene is so sad. William can tell that "Jenny" knows perfectly well that Adaline went by Della at one point, and Adaline can see by his face and the name of the comet how much she hurt William when she left. Adaline didn't know that William was about to propose to her when she left, but you can see the guilt in her face that he never really got over her. EDIT (due to people misinterpreting what I have said and abusing me): I mean by "never really got over her" that he only partially got over her leaving. Knowing and accepting that Adaline would never return, and he would unlikely see her again, he allowed himself to fall in love with someone else. But, as we know, he never 100% got over her nor accepted the absence of her.
@knowledgegathererdraftsave1979 Жыл бұрын
All so true. But actually, I think Adaline did know that William was going to propose to her - she wasn’t completely sure but the scene where it showed William holding the box with the ring, Adaline saw the box in his hands from the taxi, and that’s why she left (as well as the fact that her immortality would have never let her have a happy life with him). Of course she knew for sure when William revealed he planned to propose to her and that it was indeed a ring he was holding that day. Yeah, it’s so heartbreaking for both Adaline and William where she realises here that after 40 years, William might have met Kathy and had Ellis and Kiki but he never got over and stopped loving her. Him naming the comet after her said it all.

When someone touches your heart that deeply and then disappears without a trace... it's tough to move past it. It just fills you with questions, like, what happened to her, why did she leave, was it something I did. If you let it, you will eventually learn to live with it, and perhaps bury it so deep you hardly ever think about it overtime. But for someone who has ever touched your heart, they never truly leave you... at least no from your memory. Unless you have amnesia.

HE'S SO PUSHY All their early interactions are major red flags. He ignores every single sign she gives him to back off. She repeatedly tells him she isn't interested. And how does he respond? By blackmailing her into going out with him. He repeatedly runs over her boundaries. It works in the movie especially given her background, but if one of my girlfriends met Ellis I would not expect him to be worth a d@mn.

This movie has such an interesting premise and unique look at this idea. And they have blake who kills her performance and really breathes life into tbis complex character. And harrison gives one of the few acting performances where he actually tries. But the whole rest of the movie is just meh. The narrator is weird and unnecessary, the male lead has no substance and is just kinda there. Honestly the best moments are between Harrison and blake or blake and her on screen daughter

@@shanandananscoo it's not that he doesn't know, he probably does. He is actually very smart as well as in the movie, he used to win all the time. But he's the one asking questions.
