@@rpgeek22 mendicant definitely isn’t on the ring, his core is still on the dreadnaught that chief stole from high charity at the end of Halo 2, and the other fragment is still on the Ark according to the Halo 3 terminals. No idea where offensive bias is, but the clip at the end where they get mentioned was a conversation between forerunners from millions of years ago, they just played the audio over the cutscene to give some context for the people who don’t know any lore outside the games.

If it’s true that Chief is getting a new Cortana in Infinite, it’ll be a great parallel to Offensive Bias. The original Cortana is like Mendicant since she betrayed her creators (and maybe even has the logic plague? [fingers crossed]). So the UNSC/Halsey decide to “fight fire with fire” and create an equally powerful A.I that is designed to fight Cortana; just like the Forerunners did when creating Offensive!

I’m not sure if we’ll see much of those two anymore. Mendicant is still on the Ark presumably, but he did say in the final Terminal where he messages Chief that he was “at the end of his life”. But Hidden has said that maybe Mendicant was the one to teleport the Spirit of Fire to the Ark (or maybe it was the Gravemind in High Charity?). As for Offensive, no one really knows. Maybe he is still on the Ark, or maybe-in some plot convenient way-he’s on Installation 7 in Halo Infinite.

Just one very small historical correction, the Maginot Line intent was to force the germans to invade belgium, so It was succesfull in its plan. I think the endless are what was used for both AI's (offensive and mendican) like how Human AI were scans of humans, maybe they used the Endless as there basis and that's how natrual rampantcy was avoided. The focus on history repeating itself with AI and the possibility offensive bias is still operating and never went rampant from time, makes me believe they have something different as their base. Perhaps the endless are not biological beings , or maybe not carbon based and thats why rings and time effect them differently and as such forerunners used and abused and might be the basis of how mendican bias was able to be corrupted by primordial in first place.

this is honestly my favorite story about game lores, offensive making the ultimate sacrifice (yes im saying more so then losing your entire race to save everything because it took offensive to actually make the forrunners plan work) marching to almost guaranteed doom and then NOT DIEING AND LITERALLY TURNING THE TABLES AND WINNING

In trailer we see 3 red glowing lights on MC's visor I will speculate that find Mendicant Bias in later DLC and that offensive bias was helping the weapon and the one that open the portal at the end of game.

In the end, Halsey is still a genius. She created Cortana, she created 117, and pretty much everything that has happened is somewhat because of Halsey. When reading silentium *spoilers incoming* there's a section where it reads strings of data from a catalog on the state of the Ecumene, it goes from Offensive Bias destroying almost 2/3 rds of fleets before they even leave precursor slipspace, it was hopeful reading it. Then a couple of pages later the catalog states that infected forerunner ships are under control of Offensive Bias. It ends the string with 'Catalog can be infected' and that's it. The Entire chapter was honestly a mix of emotions, the forerunners seemed to be pulling punches then it went from hope to complete and utter loss and dismay. A really well written book 👌.
