It's wild to hear him say, in almost the same breath, "Let your creators have the freedom to bring their vision to life" and immediately pivot to "343 doesn't understand Halo at all, and their vision for the franchise is wrong." Really makes it difficult to take most of his perspectives seriously 🤷♂️

This is so cool. I really feel like Halo 2 needed this or a level like it for the Arbiter. His story was far too Flood focused in the base game

My first introduction to the Halo series was Quarantine Zone. My brother and cousin were playing it on co-op and one of them had to leave for some reason. I immediately became obsessed with Halo 2, then went back and played original.

Yeah I hated 343 take over era. Retconning things and making it way more complicated. It was way more interesting and inspiring to get the tidbits that some form ancient human was directly involved if not responsible for the rings. There are many things you don't reference here, not that it matters very much. For the key parts to work, such as firing the ring. The covenant NEEDED a human to use the console. It isn't even explained why but the implications are pretty obvious. It's also interesting that the Covenant is able to use this technology but never really advance it. Even in Halo Wars there are references to these things.

How about they create a new character to carry the superhero mantle that Chief carried and make the story in the future far after The Banished, AI rampancy, and The Covenant Wars? Create a new enemy where Arbiter's surviving legacy of followers unites with the remainder of Humanity to fight; a new vicious species who are only conditioned for war, humanoid in origin, but evolved into something akin to The Stogg in Quake yet even more extreme and scary looking. We don't want an open world, but I do want open areas where large conflicts are being fought where your large number of allies actually use real tactics and even affect the outcome of the battle. Maybe before some levels, you could even be able to set up insertion points and choose the troops and equipment being deployed. Maybe you're the last Spartan ever created and the only one to survive, and Humanity is depending on your military expertise to wage this war, because ONI is gone and the UNSC is a ghost of the past. 55:23

So uh, you forgot halo wars and that the spirit of fire encountered the flood before the Master Chief so the flood and UNSC probably could’ve allied together much earlier

I’ve always dreamed of seeing an alternate reality Halo 2 where they had enough time to complete their original ambitions… it seems this is becoming a reality thanks to awesome fans creators.

Yes, you aboslutely *DO* need to reboot the whole franchise. Everything after Halo 3 (and ODST) (or after Reach depending on your preference) was worthless. I could care less if a reboot makes Halo 4 and above irrelevant. Even Halo Infinite was a massive disappointment considering how useless vehicles were how halo-less it felt.

The ONLY reboot Halo needs is to bring it back to gow it was prior to all the retconns. Turn the books and original games into bigger games/shows and follow the source material to an absolute T

So I am under the belief and pretty much agree with what Harding is saying and I have been for a very long time is that the people who made the Halo games, how they were made, the culture behind them are all long gone. If you want an IP to continue that is under a different set of people now, either 343 industries could have been making Halo and really carried on Halo how it was back in the 2000s but unfortunately that did not happen, you have to do something new with it but it has to be done with a clear vision in mind. People like Jason Jones are very unique type of people and at this point, while Pierre Heinze might be the same way, the thing is he is a completely different person leading the studio. And at this point I have been OK with Halo going in a different direction and I really wish people would stop beating a dead horse in all they have to do is copy what Bungie did for making Halo games, things are just going to be different now and that is the safest bet we all have to come to terms on, you cannot keep having this cult like thinking that Halo has to go back to this era, we need to get those creative juices flowing again. As long as there is a good vision on how a Halo game can be made even if it doesn't connect up to Halo as it was in the past, it could still be successful. Maybe Halo Studios will but I have my doubts at this point (but they have to release a piece of new media or game first that isn't attached to Infinite).

After consuming all of this cut content especially for Halo 2, it makes me wonder why these missions and areas such as the Halo 2 warthog run were cut especially when they were already so polished. I truly believe Halo 2 would have been even more of a giant of a title if content like this remained, there’s a lot of cut content I really enjoyed
