The tactility and two handed control of the Aim was thee only way to play Firewall. Nothing felt as immersive, they have to release an Aim 2.

Started using a gun stock in Pavlov and love it. Will use it for Firwall Ultra for sure.

OlenVR makes the SPINE gunstock for PSVR2 with strong magnetic clips you leave on the sense controllers for easy switching/adjustments. I hear good things. I'm picking one up.

They could have a peer-reviewed scientific paper confirming their thoroughly play-tested rational decision to not have interactive weapons to make for a better competitive shooter, but people are still going to want that and be drawn to games like Pavlov and whatever other PCVR stuff makes its way over to VR2. Especially now PSVR finally has sane controls and decent tracking. It’s going to be interesting to see which way people go on it. I personally think it’s going to be the new dedicated-servers/rounds debate with people not even giving it a chance because of it. What makes a game a success can often come down to gimmicks and perception more than actual thoughtful game design. Personally I genuinely don’t know what the right decision is. I’m really looking forward to it but the suggestion I saw someone offered of allowing manual and potential failed reloads as an option alongside a reliable but potentially slightly slower canned animation might be the way to go. It would make for an easy to get into game that you could then master for a gambled advantage, but it would be a lot more work and might be seen as messy.

I think Ultra will have that AAA polished feel that the competition lack and that will bring the people coming back, even if people have complaints about controls.

The Sense Controller are awesome for most games but the Aim Controller for the Psvr1 was the best for shooters. If they release a second aim controller I would buy it instantly.

Thank God most PCVR / standalone Quest shooters don't have lame canned reloads. Off the top of my head, I honestly can't think of a single one that doesn't have manual reloading. Onward, Pavlov, Contractors, Boneworks, Half Life: Alyx, Zero Caliber, Resident Evil 4, Vail... the list just goes on and on. Performing immersive tasks with natural extensions of your own hand (motion controls) is a large part of what makes virtual reality such a joyful experience, and canned reloads take away some of that magic. But it is what it is. Dedicated servers and rounds are going to be game changers, at least.

There are those who would tell you manual reloading is finicky and when it doesn't work is less immersive than a canned animation. But preference is preference.

Another thought provoking vid young man 😉 As I have played ALVO on the Quest, the feel of 2 handed weapons feel very floaty and un-natural. With a stock though it will be the way forward for sure, especially if button reloads are the standard, so no need to have the Sense Controllers wobbling about, it's not accurate enough as one hand is not fully inline without stability of any kind

@@mickcoles can't think of a better dev to do it, nó disrespect to Impulse Gear who struck gold the first time around, but FCE have that shooter DNA that could add a lot to an Aim 2. Let's hope they'd at least be consulted on it.

Excellent quality to the video, much appreciated. Sony should hire me because i have the best idea. dont alienate customers by having them buy another accessory. also not having an aim replacement would be criminal imo. they should include some sort of stock that can combine the controllers into a gun like done on other platforms.

Been watching my son and nephew play a lot of Pavlov on Quest recently and I'm doubling down. Aiming the two-handed guns, with separate hands, is janky and inaccurate af (even with an artificial "virtual stock" stabilization option). I honestly thought even the Aim was unacceptable before my DIY stock addition. A pistol in one hand and a flashlight in the other (wrist to wrist) is about the only setup where I can imagine the dual controls feeling right and how often will be running pistols in the dark? No proper two-handed grip on a pistol and no proper grip on a weapon with a stock isn't a VR shooter I care to play. Again, I just hope an aftermarket solution is at least made possible with the mechanics of the game and the design of the controllers (preferably at launch). I'm skeptical that there's something that could surprise me out of the blue with the Sense controllers that I need to keep an open mind about. I already know they offer some cool features, but nothing that I can imagine will change the dynamics of what I'm concerned about.

How is FCE Trevor going to type on his keyboard during games if he has to hold onto the two handed sense controllers? I mean one of the best things about the Aim controller is the ability to find a defensive position both on defence & attack & still be able to take one hand off the hand controller to have another sip of ya beer! I would much prefer a Aim controller or stock over these sense controllers. Hopefully FCE can answer a few questions the community is wanting to know. Example: Will gun stock be able to be Implemented into the game? When is the game due to be released, same time as PSVR2 headset? How many new maps are they working on? Will all the crypto I earned in Firewall be transferable to the new Firewall Ultra game 😅? Gun skins etc? LOL Come on FCE give us more info, we frothing here

No manual reload is a deal breaker I play vr for immersion. Such a stupid statement too as if manual reloads makes a game not fun.

Lotta people wanting another Aim... Must be nice to have actually gotten a functioning Aim controller that did not lose tracking, and start pointing 30 degrees off access every time you tried to use it. So NO, you are not gonna "ask any Firewall player, and they would say the Aim was the way to go". LOTS of people couldn't get their piece of crap Aim to function properly.

I think this will be a step up followed by a step down, better tracking no drift but self stablizing between recticle and barrell is dogshit. Lol its a shooter, it would be typical fce to fk this up with no stock lol

@@PetrifyingPumpkins they should know from their community who play the game how important joining the controllers is to their game, and either work with sony or create a joining stock to sell with their game. They should know by how many other VR shooters all need stocks to play right, that they suffer from long term interest because the aiming is awful without a stock or aim. If there is no clever aim compensation it will suffer, and with that it reduces the skill gap, which isnt a good thing if you are a competitive player. Either ways i smell a f**k up on the way. 😪

@@davidhiggins8386 they're a software company not a hardware company. These criticisms should be levelled at Sony. For all we know FCE did say they wanted a fixed solution but Sony ignored (or are secretly working on an Aim 2) but they can't ever reveal details like that.

After playing resident evil 4 on the quest, I don't see that theres any excuse for not having manual reload in the name of "fun". All it requires is a bit of forgiveness in accuracy required. Boneworks reloading is an example of manual reloading done wrong, requiring ridiculous levels of precision, sometimes trying to hold a pistol with 2 hands results in you randomly pulling the magazine out of the weapon). RE4 on the other hand is forgiving enough where you can toss a magazine in the air and catch it in the gun. Pulling a magazine and slapping it home during a firefight is extremely satisfying and also represents a skill gap between players. Quite honestly, this has put firewall ultra off my "must buy" list. Edit* to be clear, I don't mean your video, which was well made and informative (the floating gun bit made me laugh, it's so accurate 🤣) I'm disappointed at the Devs decision on the reload issue.

I don't know if you're a Firewall Zero Hour player, but that game, to me, was so good that regardless of control scheme I have to get Ultra day 1. Pavlov coming out in the launch window will give me a chance to experience manual reloading in a PVP environment so I'll get a better idea of how I feel about it then. Maybe I'll start campaigning for manual reloads too. Anyway thanks for watching and the comment!

@@PetrifyingPumpkins I liked the first one, but I just feel that having the push button manual reload is an unnecessary limitation held over from the old hardware. It concerns me that other things may also still be push button like throwing grenades. We finally have proper controllers with psvr2, so it seems unnecessary to force this on players to me. It may be as you said, they're doing it to support an aim2 or something, but having the option would be nice.
