Excellent video. Straight and to the point with explanation for what you are doing and why.

I am so grateful for all of your videos. I wanted, but couldn't afford, a brand new Airstream but went with a fully (frame off) renovated 63 Overlander instead. Even though your videos are for significantly newer models, I still learn a ton (like how to properly use the Zip Dee awning). :) Eventually, I would love to bring Lady Bird out to New Jersey to meet you and thank you in person.

Thank you very much. I am rehabbing a 1961 Bambi myself and learning a lot.

Thanks for the video, Just bought a older Airstream and was hooking the swing arm where you said not to. Saved me from damaging down the road. Thanks

I did the same. Live my airstream but hate the awning. Im short and its very hard to reach and hold. Tried to get a retrofit automatic but zip-dee says can't on 16' rigs. So appreciate these learning videos. Tk you

This is an awesome video! Thanks so much for making it. We didn't know how to set up the awning until we watched your video. You made it so easy.

You did a great job... I just bought an older (but like new) 1985... stunning condition... anyway, I had everything included except how to do the super large awning across the door side... thank you so much. How easy was that!

Colonial Airstream I thought it was 34' PanAmerica. Are there other toy haulers?

loved the video thank you,, i listened as i am opening my awning for the first time,, from Quebec Canada :-)),,, the first pull to snap it in place is real real hard, i have to put all my weight (115 lbs and could not achieve, i had to go up the pic nick table,,, I see you pulling just with one hand, is something wrong with my awning ? thank you.

Julie, you would only have a difficult time putting the upper arms in and locking if the awning is not pulled all the way down.

I have a 2017 Sport 22. I always have a REALLY hard time getting that sleeve to lock or click when pulling it away from the trailer to setup. I'm not a weak person it just seems like something is wrong it should not require so much force. What am I doing wrong?

John, I would recommend consulting with the phone support at your selling dealer. There can be numerous items they need to go over with you to check.

I have to stand outside the roller, facing the trailer, grab the arm and pull firmly, it locks. I couldn't do it if I was under the awning.

I made a rookie mistake and left my awning up in the rain. I also didn't lower one side; yes, I know, and at 4 am it crashed in pieces. The rear upper arm broke. On the way down it hit the Airstream in a few places leaving some scratches. The worst indignity is when I went to pick the broken end off the ground, the spring tension sent the broken end flying to my leg. Four months later, I still have a bruise. The lesson is "Put your awning away at the first sign of rain or wind!"

Do ANY Airstream TT have "automatic" canopies, or are they ALL manual?
@colonialairstream5 жыл бұрын
The power awning is standard on several models.

It is easier to stand inside the awning when clicking in place. Tried doing it Patrick's way and too hard. Checked out Trailer Chix demo and much easier to follow. Sorry Patrick still like your videos though
