Well John. You did it again man! Busted a fat tear with the opening monologue. Sorry about the passing of your dad. The opening said it all and is so true. “Die with memories, Not dreams”. Always planning on trips with my dad… Some pan out and some don’t. Need to make more of them happen with my dad and family….

My middle kid and I did many of these trails one day as a last minute Sunday trip. Had just purchased a stock jlu sahara. We have since been looking for a group of not just wrangler owners to ride & camp with. The trail leading up the poweline lookout I think can handle polling an overlanding camper (teardrop with lift) and we plan to try and perch it up on some the rockies overlook camping sites along the trail and do some hiking and dirt bike trail riding.

I live nearby and have driven that road "Sky line drive" 600-1 FOR 30+ years. Thats the best camp site on the trail since they put a gate going up to the fire tower.

I'll try and remember to get back with you. I have it paused at the moment because had some timber cut and the road off the hill needs to settle. Wouldn't be a problem with a 4x4, but I've learned it's impossible to trust random people's driving skills and vehicles 🤣
@matthewcalvert353811 ай бұрын
@@SunshineStateAdventureCo it's under Bug Tussle Creek Bend is the name of the campsite, but I'm thinking about opening another site for Overland type vehicles that will have to cross Dorsey Creek.

First off, sorry about your Dad. Losing a beloved parent is always tough. Thanks for this video, I would have never expected this from a small NF in Alabama. I came down to SAVE and had plans to visit and meet you, but fate took a turn I wasn't expecting. I camped Wednesday night in Osceola NF and was in the Starke, Fl Walmart Thursday morning when I got a call to return home to NC at once. After much concern, everything worked out, but unfortunately, I missed SAVE. I guess next year. Your message about memories instead of dreams was very appropriate as I too am in a fight with cancer. At least I did get to do a small portion of the FAT and will have to get back for the rest. Seeing those three Monteros on one trail was interesting, I've seen those guys on FAT videos before.
@SunshineStateAdventureCo Жыл бұрын
Praying for you man. Im so sorry to hear that you are dealing with cancer. Its the worst. My hope is that you are able to get out on the FAT soon.

This is in dispute but it is a long standing forest road and im sure the gate wont stay. I have heard the gate is currently open until the legalities are settled. R Forest road is 600-2.

The streams are water crossings clearly marked as “FORDS” you are supposed to cross them. We spoke with the federal forestry cops just after crossing the river zero issue. Everyone has to cross there. He did as well.
