It’s also about bonding, social companionship, social dominance, and also communication. Having a male that can interact with females that isn’t attracted to females gives the species an advantage as it stops the division between sexes. Vice Versa for a female who’s associating with males, it also offers more opportunities for the species to adopt abandoned children, and other things. Homosexuality could release tensions between everyone, like a calming effect on the entire species. That means that gay people, are here literally to spread love and connection between everyone. Even at a biological level, it’s one of the functions.

Some will feed other species of bird's hatchlings, or try to court completely different incompatible species. They also will sit on rocks when there's no eggs around. They aren't gay as much as forced to try to breed with the same sex due to a large lack of females. That's not homosexuality it's desperation and confusion. Don't let "pop sci" teach you. Actually look into this.

it's actually quite sad to see, i see people are celebrating this, however same sex marriages and partnerships for humans are fundamentally from these species, males are being driven to this, because of the lack of females and it's sad because in the long run it would mean less babies, and that future of their species is in peril because of it.

There are ways for these same sex partners to have eggs though, mainly through breeding with third parties or adopting the chicks of departed relatives both strategies allow for their genepool to survive in some form which is better than it being wiped out. Other birds have mastered this while these albatross are more new to the whole thing or their population is so small that it is hard for them to learn or develop these skills.

Not fully true though, most animals have strategies to avoid inbreeding. It most often happens due to depressed numbers and habitat fragmentation making dispersal and adequate mate selection much harder. As for the second part, it most often happens from desperate beta males that failed to acquire actual mates.

@@reubencaldwell8494 exactly just as their argument that animals are homosexual is idiculous. They are Not. They Are naturally heterosexual. When you witness other behavoir there is reason behind it. Male cats around a female cat that is unwilling to mate for example, yet they smell the female and it confuses them. And when their is something else factoring in, such as if she may be aggressive or such; they become confused and begin to attempt to mate with anything thats around.. sometimes even a pillow. Or when animals do not have available the opposite sex they become frustrated, and they sometimes begin to still exhibit attempts at mating. Dogs attempt mating with a human leg, is that natural?

I think they probably made a mistake in translating the idea of individual "fitness" (ability to pass on their genes). They can feed each other, groom each other, keep each other warm, and increase their mental and physical health in various ways just by providing each other with the care and company. But this won't help them pass on their genes. It's interesting to see which animals prioritize passing on their genes above even their lives (ex.: certain spiders), vs. prioritizing living their own good lives, offspring or not. Makes me think about the evolution of individuality!
