Ugh... Lisa, thanks! 🙄 LOL (Actually I really do mean "thanks!" LOL) I haven't purchased that Robert Place book yet because I'm so far behind on my other tarot reading. I probably haven't taken my Alchemical Tarot out of it's box to look through the cards since the 1990's. I never understood them as I was only reading meanings from the accompanying guidebook at the time, but I've always really loved the artwork! Now my love for/interest in that deck has been renewed, and I'm stubbornly holding onto the decision to finish my current tarot reading before delving into it. I am now planning to get the book as soon as I get paid, though. Who knows? It may just overwhelm me with interest to the point of putting my current reading down for a bit. 😃

I truly adore the Alchemical tarot and the Burning Serpent Oracle. AT is the second deck I ever bought, and it was FORMATIVE. I have the old book that's just for the AT, and I really dig his writing style too. It feels super smart, and also super approachable. The Burning Serpent book really made lenormand make sense to me, probably because I love the Greek Myths, so all that just connected in my mind...I kinda wish he'd make a smaller size...betcha he does one of these days....

#LisaMadeMeDoIt LOL I know this is ridiculous considering the negligible price difference, but... LOL I actually got out my first edition deck and book to look at. I thought I could study that book until the one you have arrives. But it's an old book, and although it still seems to be in very good condition I don't really want to chance serious study with it. So I went to ebay and found an entire 1st edition book and deck kit listed as "good condition" for only $40! 🤯 I may get burnt on the deal (things seeming too good to be true and all), but I snatched that right up! And all I really wanted was an extra copy of the book! 😄

@@Lisa_Papez Well, there are rather large borders of white columns. The backs are different on each edition. There is only one lovers card. The publisher found the original one too racey, so he created the tamer version for the 1st edition. Of course, it was a deck and book set. The co-writer of the book was Rosemary Ellen Guiley, so her name appeared on the box as well. I've got to admit, though, I've never seen the subsequent editions to compare. A friend let me borrow her copy of Robert M. Place’s deck and book (the same one you are showing). She thought I would enjoy it. It isn’t what I would naturally gravitate towards, but like you said the tarot nerd in me is very intrigued.

cool I just got The Wild Unknown Archetypes Deck I plan on working on it later on cause I'm going to use it with the Wild Unknown when it comes in (yes I know I'm late to the party with this deck lol.) This month I'm working with the Motherpeace tarot its different but I'll wait till I work with it more and the Crystal Medicine Oracle.

The Alchemical Tarot is one of the top decks in my collection and I feel so "at home" with the stories it tells through its imagery and symbology. The book is so amazing, isn't it?! Unlike you (so envious of your reading attention span. I lost that ability. LOL), I've been reading it here and there, out of order, as I find myself looking for certain info for journaling/study. In fact, if I were doing Ethony's #31DaysofTarot2020, The High Priestess from the Alchemical would be my choice as my favorite HP card.
