_''One of those jobs that i didn't plan to do. Well we're here, we may as well do it.''_ I have got that mentality also and it's transforms jobs that could have been done in 30 minutes in a 2 days time of tinkering, sanding, cleaning, painting and ordering loads of new bits that look tired. I drives my dad nuts everytime we tinker together....

Lovely Jubbly, takes me back 40 years, I used a form of that rust killer on my mini.

Nice paint fix on the bumper, I have a similar job ahead on my 156. I also did a similar lower grille mesh replacement on my '81 Alfetta GTV, except I used colorbond steel gutter guard mesh which comes in flat lengths and has much tighter/smaller spaced openings. Cost about AUD$15 from Bunnings and adds significant structural rigidity to the plastic chin spoiler(original central vent section was busted as badly as yours). My opinion only, but I think it's a bit more "automotive" than chicken wire from a roll, and is similar to what you will often see on DIY cooling vents added to JDM cars. It makes a good custom alternative to the boring black plastic grid in standard 156 grilles too, and easy to fit. Have done it on both 156s I've owned.

Great video. Makes me want another one now though. One of the best cars I've had.

Faffy stuff like this is 👌 Loving these longer vids, Joe. If you keep hold of the broken grille pieces, it might be possible to 'weld' them back together, either with solvent weld adhesive and or using a soldering iron (soldering iron method will require some filler material, scrap ABS will do). Enjoy the fumes!

As an Alfisti I can just about forgive the Rover wing mirrors but chicken wire for the grill is criminal but then you did paint the bumper in the dark with only a torch for light. You legend 😂

Joe, nerdy question. How come your GTV has a phase 2 grille on an 05 plate? Prefer the ph2 but thought it would have the big one with the offset number plate. Glad to see the car coming up well.

Looks good now but for these lower grills i would use some honeycomb mesh, it would look way better than this chicken fence mesh :) but so far i really enjoy this Alfa content! :)
