The Alien was written by Ben Salisbury and Geoff Barrow for the soundtrack of the science fiction movie Annihilation. This is a cover or recreation for educational purposes.
I recreated the song in FL Studio using Omnisphere (strings) the Legend (bass) Zebra 2 (extra notes) and Volca Bass (Lead melody). I used a lot of effects to get this sound. Soundtoys Crystallizer (delay), Devil-Loc (distortion) and Valhalla Shimmer (reverb). For more details and FL Studio project file go to: / 35684665

Watching this scene in theaters was the most surreal cinematic experience. I could feel/hear the floor and walls literally rumbling, it was so loud. Like it was boring into my soul.

Fun Fact About The Film: The “thing” dwelling at the bottom of the Lighthouse was one of the many fragments of a sort of “organic machine” whose purpose is to heal the surrounding environment.

@Riddell Wilson It’s a piece of living alien technology. That’s literally what it is. Have you read the books?
@AlbertusSalvatierra
@AlbertusSalvatierra 3 жыл бұрын
@Riddell Wilson Well, the moves and book is obviously different :/ the whole purpose of Area X was to rid the environment of any man made toxins and structures, including humans- which is why everything seemed to deteriorate so fast and is the reason why humans become animals. The movie is a metaphor for cancer and the books are a metaphor for environmental preservation.
@AlbertusSalvatierra
@AlbertusSalvatierra 3 жыл бұрын
@Riddell Wilson But it did have a purpose. The long-dead extra terrestrial entities that created the “flowers of light” was to miraculously heal the environment. And people did turn into animals on several occasions. Control turned into a hare, Lowery turned into a shark, the Biologist turned into a leviathan, Whitby probably turned into a mouse, the Biologists husband may or may not have turned into a owl, the psychologist of the 11th expedition turned into a pig creature, and other animals encountered within Area X had out-of-place human qualities- like the boar and dolphin. It could be a metaphor for cancer, but VanderMeer’s prime subject was environmental preservation. Humans and their creations where the problem, which is why Area X disintegrated man-made things so quickly, and is why humans were transformed into animals. I honestly wish the Southern Reach trilogy was properly adapted into a 4 season show on HBO 🙏

I remember watching Annihilation for the first time on Netflix, I think, and remember how the ambience made me feel. Now, I really enjoy sci-fi and psychological horror. But this, holy shit, this! I wasn't scared or fearing anything that could happen, because I'm completely used to that. But I remember when the bass melody comes in my hairs stuck straight out, eyes wide on pivots watching the Alien just feet away from her and I felt just uneasy in the most terrifying way possible. I couldn't comprehend what was going on because I'd never experienced that feeling ever in my life. Not scared, just terrifyingly uneasy... I dont even know how to put it into words that would explain even a fraction of that feeling, even though I've written this out to try, i just can't.

I was in awe of this part of the movie for the song almost as much as what was going on the screen. The only thing that disappointed me is that the alien song on the soundtrack was different than the one that played during the movie. I was really hoping your video was going to be the movie version. The version was the only disappointment, this is still great playing.
