Their disorders are those that can't be seen in dissections, but *can* be seen with advanced imaging techniques - disorders of wiring. The parts of the brain associated with empathy or the ability to put yourself in someone else's place are probably either inactive or cannot communicate with the parts of the brain associated with action, planning, behaviour etc. - 'executive function'. This is all extremely complex and I am reducing it to basic terms. We have some ideas and methods now about how to induce empathy in people who have none involving precision brain stimulation and yes, even psychedelic drugs. Or both.
