That’s a really artistic way of looking at it. I would love new music from them but if they don’t believe in it and don’t wanna do a cash grab, then I totally respect that as a longtime fan.

Here's the thing that Tyson is forgetting. His fans grew up with him. We don't want you to write songs about heartbreak in high school. Tell us the stories about your life. What it's like looking back at your twenties as a successful rockstar to where you are now? Tell us about the moment everything clicked and your perspective on life changed. Getting married, having children, finding a new meaning to life. We're right there with you and we would love some new pop punk anthems that take us back to the times we were dumb kids, but not forgetting about the important things we found in our futures.

I honestly agree with what he’s saying. The band has to be excited about their own music first and foremost. If they aren’t feeling 100% it’s not going to work and it will just ruin their legacy. With that said, new music in a similar vein as their old stuff would be sick! 🤘
@mr.t1389Ай бұрын
I totally respect if Tyson just simply doesn’t want to make another record. It doesn’t have to be any deeper than that. But insinuating that bands from his era can’t go on because their roots are juvenile is simply an excuse. Lots of bands from his era have stayed relevant by maturing their lyrics and progressing their sounds. He also doesn’t give the fans enough credit when he says they can’t name their favorite bands new singles. Music fans that presave new singles and preorder vinyl aren’t few and far between. We’ll show up for good music.

The ego? If anything he’s being real and not like hacks such as Mark Hoppus who is married with multiple children still writing new songs about teenage garbage for the payday and have zero artistic growth.

@ER-yr1thАй бұрын
Because all LP stuff sounds the same (same subject matter, same sounds, same hooks, even same chord progressions).Tyson's whole struggle seems to be that he doesn't identify with the music of his youth, so instead of copy and pasting music which is what Linking Park is doing....he would rather not do anything at all. Makes perfect sense to me. This guy has a lot more artistry in him than people want to give him credit for.

I don’t want to take away his romantic take on not playing new music but the reality he’s not mentioning is the unbelievable amount of time and money it costs to make a record. The fact they could never recoup that money in any way with the industry the way it is has more to do with it than anything.
@RealHomeRecordingАй бұрын
I make music in my basement and attic on a budget of less than $10,000 for all the equipment. That's a lot less money than it used to take about 15 years ago. No excuses!
@matthewlamothemusic9041Ай бұрын
@@RealHomeRecording right but factor in the mixing, mastering and packaging as well as marketing. For a band like this mtv is gone and if you’re Canadian like me much music is gone so you’re relying solely on KZbin. Now the only revenue you’re really getting is Spotify and streaming which is Penny’s. People don’t buy cds and this really isn’t a vinyl band. So they cut a new record then they go on the road massively in debt and can’t possible recoup or alternatively they tour as a nostalgia act and make bank without having to worry about the massive repayment of a record.
@RealHomeRecordingАй бұрын

Tyson is out of touch with his fans. People always want to hear new music. Tyson seems to have a close mindset. 1 girls will always want to hear love songs. 2 write about real problems. The way they play their songs may have to change and maybe the way they write their songs. The style they play may be "Teen power pop rock" Idk but Heartbeat slowing down is a banger.

The way he worded some of this made him sound a bit arrogant, however the point he is trying to make is absolutely correct. People who enjoy good music, tend to gravitate to music that was written 10+ years ago, because alot of modern music is simply being created to be catchy and disposable, people get addicted to it for a week and then never listen to it again. Its a crappy state that music is in right now, not saying all music is like this, but man just look at Spotify top 100 or billboard top 100, its sad really
@neighborbruceАй бұрын
@@whmlprod i can totally see your point! There is definitely a lot of crap out there. But also i think our tastes stop evolving as listeners since we cant really listen to EVERYTHING like we could when we were teens. (This is a generalization for most music listeners, of course). The older generation was saying the same thing about the current state of music when All American Rejects came along. It happened when Rock N Roll first exploded in the music scene too. It may sound like crap to us, but if it has enough replay value to be in the top 100 on spotify, then maybe its just not written for us 🤷♂️ music is a very interesting concept.

It's called a ONE HIT WONDER for a reason. Problem with most artist is that the moment they have success, they think they can just release any kind of songs and the fans will love it. The key is to keep the same sound, and slowly introduce new sound/material as part of the album. NOT TRANSITION INTO A NEW SOUND!

i have a band (more of a duo i guess) and we post music on tiktok but promotion is something that i just can't figure out or reckon with. because i know lots of musicians who market themselves on tiktok the way that Tyson explains and he hits the nail on the head in a way that i think i've been waiting to hear. there's this common thing when someone makes a video where it's like "if i wrote 'please please please', i think it'd sound a little something like THIS" and then the video plays their somewhat mediocre single and idk who is supposed to be impressed. idk who this is supposed to appeal to. maybe a younger audience but are they so vapid and dumb that this obviously stupid marketing ploy will work on them? like are they supposed to think "oh huh that WOULD be what 'please please please' sounded like if you wrote it! subscribed!" why even bother? we are so oversaturated with new artists and new music and tons of it is so so same-y, everyone has to lower the common denominator to get their music heard. and i include myself in this tbh. i love my music, i love making it, but is it the newest, freshest thing on earth? probably not! but i respect it enough not to, as Tyson says, set the expectation in a way that honestly feels so embarrassing to do.
