Did I hear right only 1gb on all of the ports, they want it for small offices and no 2.5 or 10gb options even just for core switching? sounds like a hard miss for me.
@jirkav8 ай бұрын
Yea, 100 bucks for a small gigabit switch is awful, considering I can get 2.5Gbit switch for 1/3 of the price (not managed, fair)

@ipcamtalk43144 ай бұрын
@@dagamore Please what are they pulling off the nas? Word and excel files? You installed 2.5 gig cards on the workstations? Stop making things up. Again, this is 150 dollars.

I workvat B&H and Asus came through a few months ago to give us a training on this. Many of the same concerns you have were the same ones we mentioned, especially with the settings They insisted that this is for small businesses users and not meant for people who have giant home servers. They wanted to make it as easy as possible.

My latest Spectrum router separates modem and router. Now the router has an always on WiFi. Not only are they adding more physical devices, they are removing software functionalities. Seems like they're going backwards. Decided to just use my own router.

The UI looks like the same as on the regular home mesh routers with a few extra things like vlan
@oneamongmany13927 ай бұрын
Speaking as a user of asus xenwifi gear, it's ironic that in that kinda dated web UI, on the consumer-grade kit, we have: -lots of wifi settings (a bunch of which i don't understand) - big client list you can access from the middle of the dashboard. Which it lets you filter. 🤓

17:42 - I'm not an expert, but looking at that topology, my guess is that the problem is caused by trying to connect a wireless router to the wired one, which doesn't have wifi at all. I think the problem with the lack of wireless settings for that EBG15 is also caused just by the nature of this particular device. Definitely, ASUS should have shown a warning or something when this scenario took place...
@mozle-uf7nt5 ай бұрын
Would you reccomend the EBG15 as just a router and vpn client? Are there any alternatives here?

Interesting to me as a potential ubuiqiti ER-X alternative (although currently more expensive). A wireguard speed comparison of the 880mhz Dual core MIPS vs 1.8GHz Dual core Armv8 would be mighty interesting. Now I'll have to check if Openwrt is available...
@mysticknight4878 ай бұрын

That router ERB63 must be a reused RT-AX58U released about 4 + years ago. Typical ASUS behavior, throw some paint on it with a "new" firmware and functions with a extra chip on the pcb if your lucky. Then a new heftier price to that.

This looks like a glorified UI redesign on top of Asus' consumer wifi software.

Great assessment, in my humble experience for some years now, there seems no logic , constancy or overall "usability" on the software side of Asus AIMesh systems ( the hardware rocks!! but the software is just .... eeeh let me think....eehhh just like if 25 teams all build a little piece of the whole "pie" and some manger stuffed it together ) support was always helpful but most of the sort of clueless.

Why are companies still making 1g products???? At least 2,5g, everything other than that can be free and in dont want to use it. I only buy 2,5g and up products, this things lasts a long time, i dont want to buy new devices next year because they are old when they're came out

Ive been a long time ASUS boycotter but it is nice to see more competition in the space. Software can always be improved and desperately needs it here. But it seems like the lack of 2.5Gb ethernet is the bigger downside for an "expert" line of products.

Great video….Wait to you test their dumb ap in stand alone mode… same UI but less features.. you want to see clients on different Vlans.. forget about it😂😂😂 you only see clients on your main IP.. but the graph definitely shows you clients are connected though with functioning traffic.. so long story short stay away EBA63 unless you buying the router as well

I've had an Asus router for a week before returning it because my 2.4Ghz network just disappeared and couldn't be enabled. That was after trying to resolve my IOT connection issues by creating a VLAN. Looks like Asus still wasnt able to fix the issues with shitty software. On top of that it's overpriced and only 1Gbit. I'm really fed up with the current status of consumer network devices, it's impossible to find a decent 2.5Gbit solution still.

This feels like a downgrade or a sidegrade from ASUS's home AiMesh line. Which I really like, and I think is great. This "expert" product needs some work, and I'm not seeing too many reasons to spend $200 extra on this package than what I spent on my 2-unit mesh system.
