I have my grandparents 1966 Airstream. I would take it over this new one in a heart beat! The layout is much better and it doesn't take an engineer to set it up. I purchased a 67 acre, hillside farm in very rural Tennessee back in 1987 for the costs of "Deluxe" Airstream. I have buddies who bought Airstreams of that luxury range and towed them around to various places within 250 miles till the shiny got off the penny, issues with maintenance, they started leak from movement, expansion joints, UV issues to plastic and the head aches of traffic, insurance, site congestion and just a part of the herd...... They no come to visit me on the porch of the old farm house, sip a little whiskey, sit in front of the fire, roam the hill sides, share the quiet and laugh about the fact they sold those trailers for what they gave for them..... The hill side farm is now worth a half a million dollars, I still have it and still have the peace and quiet.....

My folks bought a new 24 foot Airstream in 1965, and we joined the Wally Byam Caravan Club that only Airstream owners can join. We had the #12844 on our trailer, and we very much enjoyed the trailer, and especially the WBCCI international rallies, local rallies, and the 1966 Western Canadian Caravan, during which we traveled from Moose Jaw Saskatchewan to Vancouver, B.C., over a period of six weeks. Your review was very thorough, but the design had little appeal to me. Too much like a plain metal box, with little or no storage for food, clothes, or anything else that I recall mentioned. And for what Airstreams cost, there is no excuse for not having large lithium batteries and a heavy-duty true-sine-wave inverter and a built-in convection microwave oven. And the heating and cooling should both be done by a reversible heat pump that does not require shore power, since there should be enough battery and solar charging to support it. There are examples online of folks who have equipped their RV's as I have described, so it is all doable.

With Airstream being the Gold Standard of campers, one would think that the stabilizers would be push-button as a standard feature. Then too, making up the beds seem to be quite the project. I just built a micro camper that starts out 5 wide x 7 long x 5 foot tall trailer. When you pull into your site and disconnect it self levels and raises itself, the second level raises up, giving you 7'6" of head room, the king size bed rools out one side and the kitchen and living room rool out the other. When open it is 12 x 20 x 14. All the utilities are housed in the bottom of the main area of the trailer. Under the camper there are 2-100 gallon water tanks, a 30 Black tank. The Grey water ether just drains to the side, or I have a 30 gallon tank that I can hook up. When the roof extends out 11x6 covers the sleeping area and on the the other side it extends out in 3 tears to 11x14 creating the living room and kitchen. I have 2.8 kw of solar on the polycarbonate roof and 2-48 volt 200 ah lipo batteries over the axel. It has 2 bathrooms, one under the rool-out sleeping area, and the other on the second floor. The kitchen comes out the side witch has a 5 cf refer, an air fryer oven micro wave, and a full 4 burner stove. There is a freezer and 100 lbs ice maker up front next to the duel 30lbs propane tanks. I have a 6 filter water purification system with UV Lights incase I need to use river or lake water. I use hydraulics for the lift and elevator systems, pneumatic for the roof, electric for the roll-outs. The entire unit deploys in just over 2 minutes, and packs itself away in just under 4. The automation is done with 1 Raspberry pi 4B's running Home Assistant, a Pi 400 for the Dash Board and 6 pico micro controllers for the IO's. That track everything from the deployment and breakdown, Power usage, Temp, Gas, water, fire and air quility. And just for kicks, I put in a 3000 watt stereo system, and 43" 4K UHD. Now, I'm just waiting on that Lightning ! And then my alarm went off, and I had to get ready for work !

No inverter? I thought we were going green. Come on Airstream. Great job as always with showing this trailer.

Glass that can shatter on the cooker if I forget to let the elements cool down and no inverter , that's a slap on the back for the team that designed stupidity into a sales pitch. You've literally told me not to buy it because I need shore service or ! Nothing.

A few small things that I find are a problem on most trailers, the level indicator and thermostat are mounted crooked. There's nothing more frustrating than buying a brand new trailer and the components weren't even installed straight.

I'm always amazed to see two propane bottles that could last all summer, and one battery that will last one day.

It looks really cool from the outside, unfortunately the more I see the less I like it. The price is outrageous for what is presented. I'm not into paying for a name especially when the value is not up to par compared to other manufacturers. What happened to Airstream?

Hyper Inflation on everything anymore. Nothing has realistic Value. Pay more, Get less, everywhere, on everything.

Yes, it is very costly, no argument here. I actually own one of these. For me, the quality is outstanding and IMO above what other manufacturers offer. Your option my differ, and I respect that. As an owner, I will tell you have have ZERO regrets, but of course I would have LOVED to pay less…😊
