I have never owned a GM product. I have owned Fords but primarily, and currently, Japanese and German vehicles. I am in the market for a mid size truck when the pandemic pricing stupidity ends. This is a gorgeous truck and probably surpasses the new Frontier. Definitely ( based solely on aesthetics) surpasses the Taco. I’ve heard good things about GM reliability in recent years so this just moved to the top of the list. Can’t wait to take one for a drive.

Until now, I had never owned a truck, but I had driven company trucks (Ford F150 and F250 Superduty) and ambulances (Ford Diesel Engines). I carry a lot of plumbing equipment in my 2022 At4 Canyon and it handles great. It’s a gas V6, 4x4, 6’ bed and crew cab. Accelerating it will chirp the tires. It won’t fishtail, even in 2wd.

I don't agree with the headlights control in the infotainment screen. I agree most times you leave them on auto, however lights are essential to safety and should have its own independent controls . I love the exterior and interior design of this truck. I am however really over the dark grey interior plastics and leathers that GM clearly got on sale many years ago because you will find it in almost every one of their vehicles. You pay extra for an interior with color in it, and they only give you little bits and pieces of that color for the premium- surrounded by tons of haunted house grey.

I was thinking about that, but with modern cars with the auto function you just leave them on auto. It actually causes more problems to have them on the stalk. I see cars all the time with no lights on because the driver sees the backlit gauges and thinks they are on. They accidentally bump it to off. But most cars the last 10-15 years have had backlit gauges all the time so it tricks people who aren't paying attention and that endangers all of us on the road. Leave it on auto.
@TheTonytodd
@TheTonytodd 2 жыл бұрын
@@tomm1109 The auto function for most modern cars is for low-light activation. I see more cars riding in the rain without headlights on. In situations like rain and sitting on a construction site facing another vehicle without blinding the opposite driver, having a switch is much quicker and less distracting than going through an infotainment menu to turn turn the lights on or off. You mention stalks but I can't recall a GM pickup truck that has had headlight controls on a stalk including the current and previous GMC Canyon. So accidental shut-off is not a concern for not having it on auto as the current version defaults to auto automatically. Leave the quick choice available.
@tomm1109
@tomm1109 2 жыл бұрын
@@TheTonytodd on my 06 Dodge Magnum their is a setting to turn on the headlights automatically whenever the wipers are on. Maybe they incorporated that. But I agree I like the quick change ability. But it isn’t a deal breaker. If vent controls were in the infotainment like some electric cars then it would be a no.

I really like the elevation of the "professional grade" midsize truck. This Denali really upgrades the entire midsize class to luxury status, and I believe GM was smart to offer such a truck since luxury and offroad trucks are very in demand right now. The interior is very nice, and WOW....I never thought GM would develop new turn signal stalks! REJOICE! The only downside i can see so far is moving so many things into the screen, the center console area being robbed of space by placing the 4WD and parking brake controls there instead of storage(small armrest storage doesn't make up for it), and of course, price. This trim will like be $50K+. As well as the AT4X. But this thing absolutely craps on the old Canyon. I really like the stance of it as well.

Love the look of this as well as the new Colorado, But i got a couple of zonks for this being the Denali… I hate how they didn’t carry the wood trim to the rear doors as well, just left it black. The big question remains: how good is GM's 2.7-liter turbo DOHC Four? Is it reliable? Is it durable? Are these good engines or do they wear out after 60,000 miles? If they're good in the Silverado, then they will likely be good in the Colorado/Canyon.

Looks sweet - but don't judge a book by its cover: In 2019 I purchased a new Canyon Denali - great looking truck - but had many problems. At nearly 5,000 miles out of warranty the heater core blew and luckily the wife wasn't in the passenger seat or her legs would have been burnt badly by hot coolant. This was right around $3,000 out of pocket to fix which included replacing the carpet. A few months later - what do you know - back to the stealership. Electrical in center stack cut out white driving and when I pulled over the vehicle wouldn't shut off even with the key removed. Turned out some wire came loose and shorted something out in one of the computers. This was another $600 or so to repair. Few more months later the fuel system control module failed and needed to be replaced - another couple hundred to diagnose and repair. This was my third and likely last GMC. Again best looking truck on the road but I think their quality control has suffered. Their lack of quality control is basically subsidized by consumers when they push the extended warranties during the sale.

Do yourself a favor and keep your 2000 Sierra. It was built a LOT better than the vehicles(especially GM) of today. You're looking at $70K for this truck, has a 2.7 liter engine that will blow before yours does, light controls are in a menu in the infotainment which will cost thousands when that has a problem. Did I mention these vehicles are now ALWAYS online? It looks nice and has some nice features, no doubt. But a truck is supposed to be practical and reliable. Few are anymore. GM and Ford are should get renamed to Recall Motors. The only mid-size truck I'd touch brand new today is the Frontier. It's got new school in all the right places and old school left over in all the right places. The infotainment is quick and simple. It has a naturally aspirated engine which is powerful, sounds waaaaay better, great tranny, and an interior that is practical and will work. I have an 05 Yukon with probably the same motor and tranny as your Sierra. I will never get rid of it. In fact, I have started buying parts and fixing her back up to a beauty. Fun project and very satisfying. Lots of great memories and I know what I have with it. No surprises. Anyway, good luck to you no matter what you decide. Just my two cents.

They need to drop the price to sell as many as possible because once the new Ford ranger and ranger raptor drop with the all aluminum body, 2.7 v6 and 10 speed transmission it's going to be game over for the rest of the pack

Dang! Looks great, but I really needed the 6ft bed and the Duramax diesel for fuel economy and more stable towing. I'm sure that four banger will be great for power but here in $6.00/gal California we have to drive long distances to get to our sandbox and water, so a new fuel saving diesel would still be better for towing. So... The only benefit of being stuck behind liberal enemy lines here in CA is our EV charging infrastructure, so I will be keeping my F150 Lightening on order.

Looks like it should. Since people like myself are using these not only as tricks but family haulers, I wished they would do a more in-depth analysis of the back seat for baby seats and storage.. also I wished they would offer a barn door option for the back like on the Ridgeline.. this way you can access the bed with out breaking your back.. so far though looks amazing!!

Polished turd… I have a canyon and absolutely would never buy one ever again. It’s been nothing but issues from the get go and GM have been horrible to deal with. They do not care about their customers, they don’t care that they are turning out garbage, they don’t care that you will never buy another one of their vehicles.
