The pre facelift had lots of ambient lighting in the rear, you know what’s crazy as well the new bmw 7 series doesn’t even have rear ambient lighting it’s such a shame, plus the competitor of the 7 series which is the maybach and s class have lots of crazy looking ambient lighting in the rear, damn bmw are shocking these days

540i is finally on BMW WEB site now. The minimum acceptable built is around $71K-72K. My Last BMW, a 2020 540i XDrive with just a couple of options, M Sport, HK and heated steering wheel was $68K, if i remember correctly. So only 5% price increase, less than inflation for sure.

There is an obsession with electronic sensors and components, fuel economy, emissions reduction, lightweight parts, high performance tuning etc etc. Also a desire to make money with customers regularly buying new cars. Or making money via servicing This is what BMW mechanics and management staff tell me privately. I love the styling and identity of BMW... and their performance. But now I hate the poor reliability beyond the early stages. And I've seen horror stories actually in the early stages due to electronics etc. BMW are good at making money but they are NOT like old style Mercs which were incredibly high quality wise. I'd love to buy a Beamer and keep it but I don;t think it makes any sense right now due to reliab issues. My last Beamer died at 83k. Beamers have become lease and send back at the lease end... at best. Shame but its reality these days. Deps what you want ultimately.

Thanks for this. Very useful video. Get to see the various car systems working in practice. I was curious about the BMW console and various interfaces having not seen them before. I've been driving an Audi for the last few years and haven't seen any of the modern BMW interiors. Would love to buy a 5 series again at some point. That was my first proper car I bought and still haven't experienced anything quite like that in terms of driving fun. Mine was the e39 530i and I was in my very early 20s living in Sydney at the time.

Looks great... but how reliable will it be after 3, 5 or more years? My experiences of Beamer and Merc have sadly been VERY disappointing reliability wise. Shame because the styling and former "brand identity" were terrific.

At least the Japanese have so far not succumbed to the planned obsolescence greed... I think. And dealers in Europe for top European brands also seem to have awful reputations, making a mockery of concepts like "quality". Even Bentley had an awful rating on Trustpilot.

BMW series 5 is the best typical BMW for me. Not the SUVs not any other created by marketing model. It has gone too much with all these screens and extra lighting inside the car ... it has become a video game ... not a car anymore. I am sure all these illuminated surfaces and screens catch your eyes / attention ... out of the road ... of course the car has the systems to save you in case you do not see what is going on infront of you ! I agree ... the interior with this digital panel ... looks almost the same either you drive a BMW or a KIA / Huyndai or whatever ... BMW has lost its identity ... it has lost the typical BMW interior style that all of us have loved in the past !

The light bar is a huge mis-design. Doesnt flow around the dash.its Broken halfway by the screen with a separate light under the screen thats thicker than the main strip. Look at the 7 series and youll see why it looks terrible here but not on the 7. Its not the same.the ideabis the same but the execution is different.
