Why would you need solid front axle? It ruins the on road handling. It's not like these soccer moms are going to rock climb.... Maybe some trail riding at max. Also, there are aftermarket Portal Axles for the G classes that a reverse OEM engineered from the 4x4^2 and a better upgrade than any solid axle you can put on it. G500 is still a v8...

@@seanl764 Being branded as an “Off-road Icon” on the MBUSA website, a solid front axle has way more articulation for off road uses compared to an IFS. For roughly the same amount of money, you can buy the AMG GLS 63 for better on-road characteristics. If MB continues this trend, the G class will end up as a monocoque chassis like those Defenders. Let’s hope that never happens. Also, the G500 featured in this video is not a V8, it’s an inline 6.

An inline 6? Sounds very good. The G needs 6, 8 or 12 cylinders. Car looks good on the outside and the inside. Hopefully it will be as robust and sturdy as the current model. We have high expecations!

The engine is a fail. Should have stuck with the Turbo V8 motor. Rather launch a G400/450 for the 6 cylinder motor and keep the G500 and G63 as V8 engines.

So proud Mercedes made this great 6-cylinder toughness G-wagon and called it G500. I guess it may named G300. Really looking forward to seeing the new G350 with the 2.0 litre 4-cylinder like the special made for the Chinese market. Great Job Mercedes.
