It's finally here! We recently took delivery of the all new 2022 Yamaha YZ125 at Glen Helen. After the new generation YZ125 was announced some months ago, hype for the new two stroke has undoubtedly made it the most anticipated bike of the year. Before gearing up and riding the new machine, we turned on the cameras to capture the 2022 YZ125 and all it's glory before discussing the all-new model with one of Yamaha's own. Check it out!

I love 125's! I'm 30 years old, 6 feet tall and 200 pounds! Even though the bike isn't ideal for my size - what makes it fun is feeling like a kid again. Gives you the 85cc feels with revving it out and using the clutch, the sounds and smells, gotta love it! It's also very rewarding when you ride it fast! Props to Yamaha for keeping there 2-stroke line and making them a competitive against the KTM's

this bike is so popular you can't even buy it lol. all the places i've called have theirs pre-sold. and i love that, 2 strokes need to come back to nationals at the very least.

Dealer here in western PA said the first shipment is pushed back to Jan-Mar. I'm sure Yamaha has planned to make a lot of them. Every dealership got stripped bare last year.

Kawi makes a 112 now - in fact, it's probably about dead even with YZ125 due to the smaller chassis on the KX112, but almost equivalent power & torque I'd assume... Saw one in person, and I was impressed with the torque and grunt that little green bike possessed! Would be a mean mini bike! haha

2 strokes DO ROCK! Although, I do catch myself missing 4 stroke power, so I plan to fix it by purchasing a new 450F this year. I now have a new Italian TM Racing EN300ES (2t-carb version) and fall more in love every week - but as an avid dirt bike enthusiasts, I truly appreciate things about both engine types and chassis/suspension characteristics and really look forward to owning my first big bore 4 stroke. I started dirt biking again in 2015 with buying a 16' Yamaha YZ250FX then bought a 2020 Husqvarna TE150i 2-stroke in 2019, then last year in 2020 I got the TM Racing EN300ES...I believe I went through a perfect engine and training progression with ownership and seat time on those awesome platforms I've owned! So deciding between 2022 Honda CRF450RX, 2022 Honda CRF450R-S, 2022 TM Racing MX450FI ES-Twin Pipe, or 2022 Sherco 500 SEF-Factory Edition. Oddly enough I really LOVE the Honda machines and haven't owned one since childhood so the CRF450R-S (the cheaper 2020 generation "twin pipe" CRF450R) is at the top of my list due to the sheer volume of aftermarket parts and cheaper price point! At 8600 dollars, the 2022 CRF450R-S is such a deal - especially given that this bike was still being raced successfully this past Supercross season due to lack of new gen Honda 450s.

@@jonathondavis170 I love Suzuki and TM i have a 2013 RM-Z 250 and its fast AF i also had a yz 85 i loved so much but grew out of it. i had an 03 yz 125 and i dident like it. probably because the seat had to be cut and lowering link because im only 5'2 at 14 yrs old

@@husky7117 Suzuki RMZ 250 rocks! Just use a real good engine oil in that 4 stroke beast like Maxima pro plus full synthetic & OEM filters/change every 10hrs! Get an acerbis hour meter to track ur maintenance thats a must!

Yamaha is doing a great job ...I've seen the blue bikes making a huge presence in hare scramble racing ,couple weeks ago the row in front of me was 8 Yamahas and nothing else I was like I don't think I've ever seen that . Few years ago I would say 20% Yamahas on our line, now it's probably closer to 35-40%

Bought a '21 Raptor 700R-SE in June '21 for MSRP. Took 2 mos to get it! Honda is so out of touch w/ its motorcycle fan base it's unreal. Kudos to Yamaha & KTM for listening to the riders /customers. It's a good bike, plenty fast stock and lots of power compared to the older models. Mine had to go for warranty repair after 3 rides tho. They fixed it, but some small spring doesn't have the best shape where it hooks and is prone to coming off causing it to hit several false neutrals or just not be able to shift at all. They had to completely tear the engine down to address this and put back together.

The mechanic said this was not the first bike to have this same issue also so just be aware of that.

What spring are you exactly talking about?

@@AUSTIN_457 I'm not sure exactly, I looked through the manual and believe it's a small spring on the flywheel side of the bike but internal. He said it dislodged because of improper bend shape to securely stay in place and with that spring out of place, the shift forks could not properly move from one gear to the next. If you didn't have to completely disassemble the trans it would likely be an easy fix but... ya. My bike was in the shop 2 out of the 4 weeks I've owned it. I just got it back yesterday actually.

No. Everyone complains bikes are too expensive but then wants more tech and expensive parts on them. Less diy troubleshooting friendly set up as well. They said keeping motocross simple.
