I feel for the victims’ families, I truly do, but blindly suing anybody and everybody is irrational. They are hurting and need to find a reason for why this happened, but they won’t get one by punishing others for the actions of one. The most ridiculous lawsuit was the one against the host’s parents. Tons of kids drink at parties and deal with their ex’s and don’t shoot up that party. They were all legal adults. Would they have sued them if they were in Germany drinking, where the legal age to drink alcohol unsupervised is 16? No judge or lawyer should ever entertain these cases unless there is hard proof that something could have been done. Allen Ivanov was a sick individual and would have shot up that party regardless of alcohol level.

This is devastating to hear, why not just wait some time to see if she would want to at least be friends he could have apologized why was he mad at her when HE broke it off with her. Her family didn't deserve to have this happen to them, especially over a break up. The families of the other people who were killed or injured they were just there and he shot them which also sucks they weren't the target. I think that even though he broke up with her, he still couldn't stand the thought of her potentially moving on and being with someone else. So, he tried to ask her to take him back and when she said 'no', he had that kind of "If I can't have her, no one can" mentality. He also showed spite by killing those other people who had nothing to do with a relationship. It shows what a narcissist he truly was. I had a boyfriend who cheated on me, broke up with me, then about a year and a few months later when I had finally gotten into another relationship, he threatened to tell this guy all sorts of lies about me just so he would leave me. I know it's nowhere near as bad as the story in the video, but it shows that there are people out there who think that they're entitled to everything and everyone.

@@shannonrosenbaum7306 Honestly, while I like my hehe funny joke, I would like it to be noted that I am 1. not American and 2. of the belief that while guns are available on the black market, just saying "well fuck it, they're just gonna get a gun anyway, crime gonna crime" is not a valid approach to legislation. By that logic, why would we even have laws in the first place? Why ban drugs if dealers are still gonna sell them? Why have speed limits if speeders are gonna speed? Why have gun laws if a shooter's gonna shoot? The goal of laws (at least as I understand from my legal philosophy class) is to act as a deterrent. Can you stop someone from speeding by telling them the speed limit? No, that is ultimately their choice, but hopefully the punishment will dissuade the average person. The purpose of gun laws and restrictions would ultimately be to restrict access for the average person and thus deter them (you can still kill people with knives, but probably less efficiently so). The more persistent individuals, those who use underground trading/the black market, are dealt with differently as the mentality is a bit different (sorry if that's kinda long)

I feel like his mother couldn't have gotten rid of his gun legally. since it's registered to him, and he was old enough, she really had no right to do anything with it. If she was worried about his mental instability, she would have had to contact the police or have some sort of legal reason to prove that he shouldn't have it. It's one of those catch twenty twos, you can't prove it until something bad happens, but most times it's too late by then. I'm sure she feels guilty, but I honestly think she did everything she could have without getting herself in "trouble."
@Saighin2 жыл бұрын
I know this is an old video & old comment, but still wanted to chime in that you're correct. Her hands would have been legally very tied by the fact that he was over 18 & had purchased the gun legally. In Washington State where this went down, the *only* legal way to "get rid of" a gun like this - aside from returning it to the store - is turn it in to the police department for disposal. When you do so, the PD runs the serial number to check the registration, at which point the firearm would come back registered to her son not her & she would have been informed by the police that because her son had purchased it legally as an adult was *she was required by law* to return it to the legal registered owner.

I lived in Mukilteo when this happened and I really appreciate you bringing attention to this case. It was a difficult time for the community to lose so many young lives, but also a lot of people actually still support the argument that it was the gun store’s fault, both for selling it and not accepting the return. He made the decision to do what he did, ultimately it was entirely his fault, so thank you for emphasizing that point. There’s a very real gun problem in this country, cases like this prove it, but you can’t use that as a legal argument for murder

yes! I moved to the USA and it is nuts here. Every-time there's a mass shooting, people call for more guns. I think (hope) they like the wild west aspect, of it all, because it defies actual logic.Statistics have no power here. Most people I meet who want guns to protect themselves from crazy people are freaking crazy themselves. snake biting it's own tail.

@@Saffron-sugar it's sad that people like me who have lived in the US all their lives are used to hearing about shootings. like if someone says "oh did you hear about that shooting?", it's like "which one"
@Luna_Kosane3 жыл бұрын
I live in Australia now and the gun laws here are so strict. Like, you have to go through probably one of the most extensive background checks I've ever seen just to be issued a license to own a gun. You also have to keep a record of how many bullets you own at any time. If you do use the gun, you have to say what it was used for, where it was used, how many bullets you used, etc. Shootings have happened here, but nowhere near as much as the US.

Anna Bui was such an amazing girl, I was lucky to even be an acquaintance of hers when we were in middle school together, she was so smart and caring and had such a beautiful personality. This was a cruel and heartbreaking night in our community, 3 beautiful lives were lost. I cannot believe no one reported Alan for the awful things he was saying before the party even took place.... AND THERE WERE SO MANY WARNING SIGNS, “oh i didn’t think he would actually go through with it” is no excuse, Alan is a monster. good for Anna’s brother filing the lawsuit again the mom! Alan’s mom was aware of her sons instability and GAVE HIM BACK THE GUN she needs to be held accountable!!

When I saw his pic (that one with him and his camera) I thought to myself "why such a normal looking boy would be imprisoned for life at 21"? I googled him and well I learnt about what happened. It really shocked me I thought he was a normal cool- looking guy

It definitely shows that phrase "You can't judge a book by its cover" is true in some cases. People are capable of anything no matter what they look like. But people are always quick to point fingers at the people who might look weird or behave weird because they're different from the social norms. Most of the time, we never take a good look at those who look like your average everyday normal people.
