The recording sound quality/mixing was terrible, but the music was great! I watched this about 20 times already, it's kind of addictive. I see lots of talent and enthusiasm here, and can easily imagine them becoming professionals, especially that vocalist with the resonant voice. She is singing vocals meant for a man (like Janis Joplin used to do), but she's wearing a dress, as if she is perfectly content being a woman. Very captivating! It makes me appreciate what these for-profit "Schools of Rock" are capable of doing. It would be interesting if these fine young people could try writing their own music, so we could see if there really is some magic there. They seem to have all the core elements necessary to succeed.

She had a band called She-Ra in the Minneapolis area, but I think she's pursuing a career in either New York or Boston. She gave me goosebumps when I shot this.

Armentitron Look through my channel and you'll see a bunch of videos by various AllStars teams. They are the very best musicians in the program, selected via a series of auditions from more than 180 locations. They get a setlist three weeks before, learn their individual parts, then meet three days before the tour starts to rehearse as a group. Most of these players hadn't met three days before.

WOW! I was born and raised, and still live, in Macon, Georgia. The Allman Brothers Band calls Macon their home, so I'm a huge life long ABB fan. I've seen them play in Macon many times over the years and also have seen their shows in many other towns as well. I say all of that to preface the fact that these kids played an outstanding cover of Whipping Post! I've watched a lot of School of Rock performances on KZbin, and In my opinion, this is the best so far. The band and crowd seem to be more invested in this performance, and it definitely shows on this video. I am super impressed, and I enjoyed the heck out of this one! BRAVO!!!

Frmr Christian I've been a huge fan of the lead singer ever since her first School of Rock show, but the one who absolutely knocked me out was the girl on the red SG. I swear this is true, I saw one of the teachers genuflecting towards her.

MidWest Concert Video Yes! she's definitely Badass! There's another female lead guitarist that I've seen in several SoR videos as well. I believe her name is Lauren Connor. She's also incredibly talented.

I posted this mainly because of the vocalist, Claire Albensoder, who is one of my favorite SoR singers, but the girl playing the red SG - quite possibly the best SoR guitarist I've ever seen. Where is she from?

Good work, great cover. Hits the heart and soul of the tune, I think. Besides, the bass player had me with those percussive opening notes, exact timbre I heard in Berry Oakley's playing. Odd audio mix though-- ABB would have more organ, less drums, I think. Made for some strange interludes in this cut.
@MidWestConcertVideo25 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately I'm pretty much at the mercy of the sound engineer at the venue. They tend to mix to supplement what's coming off the stage, and the guitar, bass and keyboards all have their own amplifiers.

@@MidWestConcertVideo2 Tell me about it. I spent ~ten years on and off trying to get a good sound track onto the (mostly B&W) videos we shot at the old Capitol Theatre/Passaic. First thing I learned was that the PA (board mix) would be crap in terms of overall balance; no shock to me since I came from the rock concert touring sound systems business in the 1970s and 80s. I developed a technique of mixing a live mic or two with the PA mix and applying some compression/limiting. Sometimes this sounded great, sometimes it was total garbage, but it beat a straight board mix. But this does require someone whose only job is the sound track, and I get it that tiny budgets won't buy a sound person. It's never easy. But the glamour!
@MidWestConcertVideo25 жыл бұрын
@@tdrewke Unless I'm able to actually get my own customized mix I have one person with headphones tweaking it, I'm never going to get sound as good as my video.

This is a 2013 SOR Team .. the talent of the older 2013 SOR Teams just blow away the more recent 2017-2018 teams .. I think real talent was recruited in earlier days than more recently where it seems parents pay just to get their kids on stage regardless
@MidWestConcertVideo25 жыл бұрын
That's not the case, it really isn't. I've been following the careers of all these kids. The one difference of 2013 is that this was a Midwestern team composed mostly of kids from Chicago and Oak Park - two schools which produced 11 AllStars each last year, and were scattered among all seven teams. Female guitarist with red SG was from Eden Prairie, the singer was from Chicago, etc. The absolute best guitarist I've ever seen was Connor Low from St Louis. Maybe it's just the water in the Midwest.
