Welcome to my channel! This is a music reaction channel. For the longest time, I've loved creating content on the internet. I started off with a gaming channel right here on KZbin, which eventually turned into a Twitch gaming channel, but as time has gone on I've evolved into doing other things on KZbin. For years now I've wanted to create a music channel on KZbin, and recently just figured "why not?", so it’s time to give this a go! Give me any suggestion you have for music reactions, and I will do my best to get around to them. As music has fallen further out of my life, I figured this would be a great time to get reintroduced to music.
If you enjoy this video and my reactions make sure you subscribe to the channel, like the video and comment down below which video you would like to see me react to next.
This is a reaction video used to educate and give my feedback on the song and artists.

We lost our daughter Jessica at 29, sadly. Always loved this song and it's my ring tone for many years. A beautiful tribute to Dickey Betts' daughter and from me to mine.

Can't go wrong with the Allman Brothers. I got to see them live only twice. The first time was in May of 1969, when they were a new band playing their first gig out of the south as the opening act for "The Velvet Underground" at the Boston Tea Party. Of course they blew everyone's mind. The last time I saw them was at the Summerthing Concert Series on Boston Commons in August of 1971, sadly just a few months before Duane's untimely death. They were among the most impressive concerts of my life.

Jaimoe and Dickey Betts are alive. The rest are gone, but here’s something cool: Gregg’s son Devon, Dickey Betts’ son Duane, Berry Oakley’s son Berry Jr, and Chuck Leavell, who toured for years with The Rolling Stones, formed The Allman Betts Band a few years ago. Dickey occasionally shows up and plays with them, and this year they’re all touring as The Allman Betts Family Revival with Dickey and Jaimoe. One last thing: Reese Wynans, who played with Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble until Stevie died and later with Joe Bonamassa, was the original keyboardist when the Allman Brothers Band first decided to form a band, but Duane Allman wanted his brother as singer, so he was eased out. He played with them when Gregg couldn’t, and he played the 50th Anniversary show after Gregg’s death.

That's the great Chuck Leavell on piano. He would go on to be the touring keyboardist for the Rolling Stones.

Great choice and reaction Shawn! Now to REALLY hear what they can do, listen to their masterpiece, another instrumental: “In Memory of Elizabeth Reed” recorded live at Fillmore East in 1971. This is often cited as the greatest recording of a live rock performance ever. Thanks and blessings!

No Duane as he had already passed when this was released. Dickey Betts is the guitarist on this. This piano player was Chuck Leavell, who has been the keyboardist for the Rolling Stones for many years. Gregg Allman is on Hammond B3 organ. This was played on FM radio quite a bit when it came out. I saw them play this live in 1976.

This great instrumental was also written by Dickey Betts who was inspired by watching his young daughter Jessica playing ☺️ of course that’s him on guitar Chuck Leavell on piano, one of the best ( he also was on Clapton’s Unplugged album). Sadly Duane Allman had already died when this came out

Chuck Leavell at his best with his Piano solo on "Old Love" from Clapton's Unplugged album always kills me especially when Chuck does this beautiful run on the Piano during his solo & guitarist Andy Fairweather Lowe turns toward Chuck with this "THAT was AMAZING !" look and when you can do that to the level of musicians in that band , that is saying something .

On piano, Chuck leavell. Chuck Is cool dude. He is a tree farmer (google Chuck Leavell tree farmer and waste an hour and a half watching his documentary) he has also been the music director for some band called The Rolling Stones since 1982. Also check out an amazing acoustic version of Tumbling dice. it's just Chuck playing piano with Mick, Keith, and Ronnie Wood singing.

That's Chuck Leavell on the piano. Chuck was brought in to help fill the massive hole left in the band's sound after Duane was killed. He's been one of the most renowned keyboard players in R&R. He's been the Musical Director and keyboard player for the Rolling Stones since 1982.

Shawn, when you said that you had only reacted to a couple of instrumentals, I immediately thought of a couple that you would probably enjoy by the famed rock guitarist, Eric Johnson. I first heard Eric when the FM station in my town played his song 'Righteous'. I loved that tune so much I had to run out and buy the album and there heard his award winning song, 'Cliffs of Dover', which is truly one of the greatest rock guitar instrumentals of all time. Both these EJ pieces are worthy of a listen.

"Jessica" had a second life after all it's time on the radio, as the opening theme music for the BBC production of "Top Gear", an automobile centered show, that was released in the US in the 21st Century. A US produced version was created later, but was not as good as the original.

What a beautiful story about the song's origin. I once composed a song called "Childhood Sunlight" based on the same energy. Their early classic, "Revival" also has that optimistic energy...and the rhythm is almost identical to the Rascals' song, "Good Lovin'". Both highly recommended for your upbeat show. In the old days, instead of saying "Let's do dis" I would say "Les Dudek". Just thought I'd share. Easy mnemonic.

Ramblin Man ( Allmans-Betts) is similar to this. 1984 live performance the best. Dickey was in his prime and it’s very close to the studio version. They also did Jessica live on this performance.

Way back in 1984, I went to see Hot Tuna at the Landmark Theatre in Syracuse, NY. The opening act was listed as BHLT on the ticket. Had no idea who they were and didn't care. When the curtain opened, there stood Dicky Betts, Chuck Leavell, Jimmy Hall and Butch Trucks! These four proceeded to blow the roof off that joint and played for an hour and a half including three (yes three) encores as the opening act!!! Needless to say Hot Tuna was a huge disappointment and had the audience cslling for BHLT to come back on stage. What a night that was!

My band covered this back in the 80s. It was challenging but a lot of fun, especially the harmonizing guitar parts. We didn't have a piano player, though so we had to shorten the song by cutting out the piano solo.
