great video thanks....timely too, as I am currently reading Greg's "My Cross To Bear". All the Allman memorabilia aside... those hardwood floors look just amazing ! Also watched your video on the Rose Hill Cemetery.... seemed so fitting to have a freight train rolling by. ;)

Saw the Allmans in May'79 in Bozeman Montana with Hank JR. They played 4.5 hrs and Hank for 2.5 hrs. I love every incarnation of the Allmans. Saw Gregg solo in '84 on I'm No Angel tour at the Speedway Orange Co NY Middletown also a Great show. Been listening to them since '73 when I was 13. Heard Southbound and fell in right away. My favorite band of all time. Grew up in the best time for music!

Man, you're so lucky to have lived during that time in history. Great story man, I dig it. I'll make sure to post more videos about them if I get to film more locations, so a fellow fan like you can enjoy them. I plan on going to see the site of Fillmore East album cover and Capricorn Records when I have the time. Plus, I know some hidden locations where they hung out in Macon, GA. Those guys were legends and to stand in the same room that Rambling Man was written was beyond words. I was really bummed out when I heard about Gregg dying, I went to see his grave as soon as it was finished, which took a lot of planning since Duane and Berry were already buried and the cemetery had stairs to remove so Gregg and Duane could be side by side. I did a video there. It was a sad, fun, and strange day to say the least. It's in the famous graves section here on the channel. I plan on doing another one there too. "The road goes on forever"...... but I'm not gonna let em' catch the midnight rider".... TABB....

Maybe I should drive from the Allman Brothers Museum in Macon, GA to Atlanta and fly to Hawaii to visit a tiki lounge and watch the sun set over the islands. But it's only a dream for my job cannot afford to make anything like that come true. "The road goes on forever".

Hello there, Highway Ghost speaking. Thanks for checking out the channel and for your comment. As a fellow fan of this legendary band, I totally agree that this was an emotional stop and one that I've done a few times, as well as seeing their graves. I really wish I could go back in time and see them and so many others play those amazing songs live and meet them and just hangout. Kind of how Joe Dirt went back in time and met Skynyrd in part 2. If you're interested, I have a few other Allman Brothers related videos to check out. One is a strange experience at their grave and the other is at Little Martha's grave, a famous grave marker they were said to have visited and later named a song after. Those videos are in my "Famous Graves" playlist among so much more on here. You're always welcome to join the ride and subscribe for updates on all my strange travels, so welcome to the Ghost Club. Hello there, Highway Ghost speaking. Thanks so much for checking out the video and for the comment, it really means a lot that folks enjoy my videos. As a fellow Allman Brothers fan, I have to say how that this museum was amazing. I've been here a few times and last trip there I found out that they're working on opening a bigger jam stage next door for concerts and outdoor events. I think Duane and Gregg and the guys would be proud how that they're being honored after death. If you're interested in seeing similar footage, I have an Allman Brothers grave visit video which was a pretty weird day, but a fun video as well. I plan to shoot another video there next trip, but that one was a bizarre visit. Just know that you're always welcome to join the ride and subscribe for update on new footage, but either way have a groovy day and thanks again for watching the Highway Ghost. Tell your friends to stop by for a watch. Peace... HG

I live next door to one of the docents, who at one time toured with them as one of the support staff. I know where that room is... And one correction for you, that was actually Barry Oakley's house... many of the band did live there from time to time. I can guarantee you Cher never, ever lived there. Greg's house was on the other side of the river back when Cher was around... Take a good look at the mushroom when you figure it out and get over the embarrassment, keep it to yourself... Yes, that is my real name and I am from and live in Macon. See a guy in Macon on a sidecar, probably me... wave, I will wave back if I see you...

Hey there, Highway Ghost speaking. Thanks for the inside info, for I love hearing about how folks knew famous people or worked with them. Now that you mentioned it I think I recall someone telling me about the house being owned by Barry and the whole gang was in and out when off the road and said Gregg had a room he liked to stay in upstairs when he stopped by. Cool story about Gregg and Cher and I'll look at the mushroom and hopefully see that hidden image if I can. It'd be cool to see you cruise by in a sidecar bike and yes sir I'll give you a wave and we'll chat if you're up for it. It must've been great touring with those fellows, they're truly American music legends. I wish I could have seen them live and have those memories about them. I'd love to hear more Allman Brothers stories and location stuff if you're up for it. I have a million spots I'd love to visit one day when in town. Anyway, thanks again for the info and stay cool cat, even when it's not summer. HG

Damn long hair hippies! Get a haircut. I'm from New Orleans, still a resident and I saw the Allman Brothers here many times. They were almost like a house band, playing here at the Warehouse every 3 months. I've seen them play for free at the park a couple times, once with Professor Longhair and one of those shows was probably the day after they got out of jail, after being busted for a very small amount of weed in New Orleans. But in spite of that, the Allman Brothers loved New Orleans.🍄🚚🍑

Haha! and I recommended a video you've already watched. I get so many comments about my videos on the Allman Bros. that I get mixed up replying at times. Lol! Anyway, what I meant to say was that I have a video from their graves and one from the grave of Little Martha where legend has it they visited years ago while living there in Macon, GA and named a instrumental song after it. That's in the famous graves playlist. I plan on doing a Capricorn studio tour one day and some other locations from their lives so that'll be a good ones for the channel as well. Man, it's been a long strange trip this month. Just got off the road for a few days and been busy with all this, but anyway enjoy the channel. Hopefully I'll get back down to New Orleans again soon. There's always something weird and unique to watch here. HG

In recent years I've found a few hidden photo shoot locations from their career and plan on visiting those for videos as well. Tragic stories follow this band and now they're all almost gone, but the road will go on forever. I have an old video from years ago before Gregg died and I plan on uploading it for folks to see the comparison of how the grave site looked and now looks. Amazing how they redid it all for Gregg and Duane to be side and side.
@aarfeld4 ай бұрын
Not all of the band members lived at the house, but it was a hang out space for all of them and their roadies. I believe that Gregg moved out in '71, when he and Berry's sister split up. They had been an item for a while. So, Cher never lived there with Gregg, but she did live for a time at the house that he later bought in the area. Duane also moved out in '71, when he took up with Dixie. The Oakleys remained in the house, but, of course, Berry died in '72 as the result of a motorcycle accident. His widow was forced to give up the place the following year, when the landlord wouldn't renew the lease.

Hello there, Highway Ghost speaking. Just saying thanks for checking out the video and for the short history lesson on the residents of this awesome rock-n-roll location. Last time I was there the owners or the musical society had purchased the land next to this spot and was adding a venue area for outdoor shows and hopefully Allman Brothers events relating to their legacy. I have a video from their grave in my famous music locations playlist if you'd like to check it out. There's truly no telling who walked among the walls of this house and lived there on and off during that time frame. Glad that it's there for us fans to remember them. Thanks for watching.... HG

Hello there, Highway Ghost speaking. Thanks for checking out the video and for sharing a comment. I'm honestly not sure about the porches jams, but it sure sounds about right, for the boys loved to play and this was like a clubhouse for rock stars when they were off the road and many folks came and went here. If you're interested in more Allman Bros. videos, I have a couple more in my famous graves playlist from their graves and also Little Martha's grave at Rose Hill Cemetery in Macon, GA, down the road from here. One time I had a strange experience at the Allman Bros. graves and did a video about that. I love this band and like honoring them with videos from their path in life. Don't be a stranger man, join the ride and subscribe for updates on new footage. Thanks for watching and stay tuned for more strange travels. HG

Hello there, this is the Highway Ghost speaking. I wanted to say thanks for watching and hope you've enjoyed the channel so far. About the guys you asked about, I'm not sure about Callaghan, but I once read that Joe died in a plane crash accident back in 2000, so yet another tragic event with this amazing rock band. I have a video from their grave from my latest visit there after Gregg's grave was finished and the location was redone for the brother's graves to be next to each other. The video was from an interesting day there to say the least and that's in my "famous music locations" playlist. Anyway, hope you've joined the ride for updates on all my latest videos. Take care. HG

Hello again. I've actually been planning on doing some more Allman Brothers related location videos as time allows. I found the photo location for the album and a few other spots. I also have a video from the grave of Little Martha as legend has it was the grave they visited in Rose Hill Cemetery near their home and this influenced them to name a song after her. Cool band with so many legends behind them being legends themselves. I love filming and visiting famous music locations involved in music history and I will keep this idea in mind. There's a whole ton of footage to check out here.
