What a tribute. The Allmans stole Statesboro' Blues from the first Columbia Taj Mahal album. They stole it hook line and sinker, right down to the arrangement! By the way, the original features Ry Cooder on slide. In fact the first Taj Mahal album IS A MONSTER!

Jesse Ed Davis was the one who played slide on that song for Taj Mahal's record not Ry Cooder thought your right he was the first one to play it with Taj Mahal.

jaimedolcesinnersole Yes, Greg told that story of buying Duane the album when he was nursing his arm after falling from horse and coriciden pills for a cold. The album was birthday present. Duane called him later, and he had learned to play slide by using round bottle as slide and listening to Jesse Ed Davis on Taj Mahal album. Aren't we lucky that Duane hurt his arm, had a cold, and it was his birthday??!!!

The energy on this cut isn't even close to the energy generated by the original Allman Bros. line up . Sounds kind of wimpy as far as Allman Bros go . Maybe they're trying to be politically correct or something . Taj sounds good .
