for me the biggest problems i saw in singapore were how your government closely and i mean VERY closely monitors its citizens. facebook, and other social media platforms are monitored for any anti-govt. speech. there are cameras literally everywhere. its almost creepy the feeling of being watched there. i also get creeped out by the lack of crime, because crime at least at some level, is normal. you can't own real estate in the way you think you can there either. people are very limited in rights and freedoms in singapore, which is something most of the ppl there won't tell you.

In small countries it is easier to have a change as compared to bigger countries. Similar to heating up water in a pot. Small pot heats quickly. Larger takes time. But also remember, smaller pot also loses the heat quickly, while the larger does not.

It depends on the mindset of who is running it. The US is not as old as some countries but you know people twisted religion and wrote laws and used racism to keep slavery and oppression. Britain ended slavery before the US and then used the British Navy to stem human trafficking.
