The AMALFI Coast - ITALY with kids [Ep. 55]

This is the quintessential Italy that everyone imagines. Maybe minus the crowds. The Amalfi Coast is just stunning, with villages clinging to the cliffs, scary hairpin roads, delicious sorbet, and crystal clear water. It’s the summer hotspot in Italy and is one of its busiest destinations.
We stayed in the village of Agerola which is up in the mountains. It was nice to be away from the crowds and in a slightly cooler area. The heat really gets to you after a while. It was an agritourism business which meant that it’s officially a farm, with rooms on site. And the small family restaurant serves food that they get from their own crops or animals.
We visited the town of Amalfi, which was just crazy busy. Cute, all the same. We actually spent more time and went swimming in the neighbouring town of Atrani which was much quieter. We walked up the hill to a cliffside church, and visited a paper mill museum.
There’s an amazing walk called the Sentiero degli Dei or the Path of the Gods which goes from Agerola all the way down to Positano. We took a few hours to walk it. It was absolutely stunning with sweeping views over the coastline, sheer cliffs, and old terraces and goat farms. The kids did really well. We stopped part way in Nocelle for iced granita, and then continued to Positano for a swim, a very late lunch and some wandering.
Positano is a bit nicer than Amalfi, but just as busy. There are lots more narrow streets to get lost in.
We then took the ferry back to Amalfi. It was really nice to see the coast from the water for a change. The bus system in Amalfi was horrendous, but we made it back home after a massive day.
