Hey Brianna! Pomni is revealed to be 28 yrs old, and she was actually supposed to be a boy. Pomni in Russian means “remember.” And she’s a jester. Not clown. Actually, it’s set in the 1990s due to the quality of the simulation in the beginning. And they are not people trapped in a headset. They are human consciousnesses that got copied by the headset and are being studied by Caine the ai and he’s studying how far human brains can go until they reach the point of insanity. You can tell that they aren’t in a headset because when pomni sees the computer in the exit cycle, it triggers a memory, a memory of her old life. That desk and that computer is pomni’s. AND there is a 1990’s style VR headset on the desk AND the entire circus is 1990’s vr game style with tons of geometric shapes and lots of glitching. So there really is no way out for any of them and they will rot there until the abstruct. All because of cruel studies of psychology and human, REAL human, curiosity. But whatever, that’s just a theory 😉

The dark chess piece is the queen and the white chess piece is the king who made the pillow fort most likely they either found the exit, abstracted, or had to be taken away by Caine because they were learning too much.
