A YOUNG girl has become an accomplished Junior Reserve Officer cadet, despite being born with no arms. Donavia Walker, 16, was born with a rare condition called Bilateral Amelia and has learned to use her feet to do everything from driving to using her phone. Now, she is a squad commander and a part of the Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps (JROTC). The Winterhaven, Florida-native told Barcroft Media: “People would put me down because they didn't think I could do as much as I can.

I was born with syndactyly. That’s a condition where some fingers on your hands are stuck together. Two of my fingers on each hand were stuck together at birth, and I have had 4 surgeries to help me over the years. I am going to get another surgery soon. She inspired me to start playing sports. Now I play basketball, and I’m the best on my team. I get bullied a lot, but then I think of her, and it makes me feel so much better about myself

WTG! It’s amazing what a person can do when they decide to. My husband was born with cerebral palsy. He was told in the first grade he needed to go to a “special” school. His parents refused. In the third grade the principle said that he “scared” the other children. (He’s on crutches) so his mama and her three sisters went to the school and straightened them out. Well, he graduated from Baylor University and has no signs of slowing down.

Angel gives me the motivation to keep moving forward. I had three heart attacks and a stroke all within 24hours. I am very different now I now see I should have no complaints and no excuses. If she can succeed so can I. People laugh at me and put me down making me so depressed. But Angel has shown me how to raise above the noise and be thankful and live. We all have a dominant side, it counts for our whole body, not just your arm/hand. Think about when you start to walk...the foot you start with you have a preference for.

For me it differs between my arms and legs, my right hand is my dominant side, i can't write or hold a fork with my left or anything, but as far as legs it is my left leg i use to kick a soccer ball, or lead with and i recall trying to explain that to someone at school once because i was in trouble for not consistently using the same side in all things, and some jerk suddenly rushed up and shoved me really hard...turns out he thought he could catch me off guard and see what leg i caught myself with, but without understanding why he had shoved me or having any time to think it was my left leg/foot that automatically braced and caught myself. So my dominant side is right for upper body and left for lower body. No idea why.
