Fun fact, the moment Spider-Man takes your photo in the ride isn't when the ride takes your photo. It was intended to be, but they found it happened at a time that riders didn't look excited, so they changed it to be taken during a transition (I believe between the Sinister Syndicate meeting and the scene where Electro first attacks you- they hide the flash with strobes meant to evoke his lightning powers).

For reference, this was stated on the Annual Pass Podcast by Dave Cobb. He worked on MiB: Alien Attack, but had some insight into the Spider-Man creation because they were considering putting in the MiB shooting format into the ride.

@@parkpiggy I think the photo spot would capture more excited faces if it happened in the middle of a scene where the guests are splashed by water, or the fire bomb effect goes off, or during the simulated fall. It’s current spot is in a transition between 2 scenes so they’re mostly catching guests when they’re just focused on what’s happening in front of them without a big reaction moment

I had no idea this ride was so good until I went at the beginning of February. I rode it 3 times and it was my surprise favorite ride of the entire Disney/universal trip

Me and my family went to islands of Adventure the year it opened. Everyone of us were amazed when we came of the ride and thought it was one of the greatest things we had ever been on.

Originally the head of the Statue of Liberty was all the way down on the track and rose up when hit by the beam (hence the "hit em again"). The effect was removed (I assume because timing with the car was an issue) before the official opening.

Rode this last year not knowing what the ride was about. We just got in the line. AMAZING ride. My kids loved it. It makes the one at Disneyland California look pathetic.

Ride trivia: Due to the unnoticeable "flicker" in the 3D glasses, try doing this....... At the end of the ride, while you're still in your vehicle, look at the OSHA-required Exit sign while still wearing the glasses. In one eye, it's red; in the other, black. Also, if you film this ride with a camera with a variable aperture, take a second pair of 3D glasses (for your camera) before boarding. Cover the camera lense with one of the 3D lenses. It will remove the double-image from the 3D effect.

It seems to be a case like what happened with the dvd release of toy story vs.the theatrical release, there's a comparison between the laserdisc and DVD release of toy story that really highlights the difference. a lot of lighting got messed up or removed somehow on the re-rendering and they didn't fix it I guess.
