OMG, I also need to add how funny Penn is. His range of emotions at the bungee jumping "It's the Amazing Race, they won't let you die." to crying and saying "I want her to come up. I think I was imagining my life if she didn't." So funny and endearing. Love you both.

Penn’s advice is one of the reasons why you should never withhold from doing anything on TAR: they won’t let you die. Best advice ever. It’s clearly a sign of having watched many, many seasons. They’ve done a tonne of crazy stuff before and everyone has come out just fine. In fact, I believe self driving has been the most dangerous part of the whole race. Also, Sherri is such a rockstar. Since the restart she’s been doing every challenge and half of them have involved tremendous heights. What a champ. And Penn, do you have an air of resemblance to Phil Dunphy! That’s why you felt familiar - no pun intended.

First, that jump was horrifying and I’m extremely impressed for anyone that did it and felt so hard for Sharrie after last week, no less. Second, I would have totally been reassuring myself or others by saying that the Amazing race won’t let them die. But then, once my child was afraid to go on a roller coaster and said, “kids have died doing this!” And without thinking my answer was, “kids die lots of ways.” So I’m not always great at saying the right thing.

@Holderness Family Vlogs I'm not sure about now, but in 1995 the world's highest static jump is Skipper's Canyon in New Zealand, which was my one and only jump - it's a suspension bridge crossing the narrow canyon with a river at the bottom. Australia offered hot air balloon bungee jumps but I don't think those count in the same way. I was fine doing the bridge as there was enough air around that I wasn't worried about hitting anything like I have been at fairs and theme parks. As I recall - I'd have to find a VHS player to watch the replay or maybe find my souvenir - the Skipper's Canyon jump was 340 feet. (I think. It might have been meters.) From a windy suspension bridge with only a towel and bungee cord wrapped around the ankles. I get more concerned about driving in downtown Raleigh (a couple hours from me and where my kid's at college) than doing the jump - but it was easier because I took my glasses off before the jump so everything was rather fuzzy. 😁 Oh, and we sat in a dentist chair that was bolted to the bridge. 😆 Talk about adding an element of additional knee-jerk fear to the experience- dental work by proxy. Lol (Edited to correct typos)

Holy cow, I loved this episode! I did something so similar in 1998, when I was 22 and studying abroad, without GPS or cell phones. It was during the time of dial-up internet cafes. Four of us, students studying together from different colleges, rented a car in Johannesburg and then drove it from South Africa to Zimbabwe to Victoria Falls to bungee jump over the Zambezi River (a measley 364ft jump)...it just sounded like a good idea, and at that point, we were fearless and needed a break, after three months abroad. But, we had to rely on maps and on strangers to give us directions the whole way. And I couldn't back out of jumping, once we got there, not after driving that far. It really is wild to jump! The platforms are sooo small - nothing has changed about it! Fantastic job with that recap! It feels like I'm reliving that whole 90's experience! Love your teamwork! #teamholderness

I didn’t know Penn was going to cry but when you jumped I started to cry, I think I was crying for two reasons, sooo proud of you and scared for you at the same. I have sky dived before, not sure I could bungee jump.

When Penn cried and was so in tune and so proud of Kim, it was such a beautiful reflection of a great relationship!!

I actually thought it was the sweetest thing when he said that to you Kim about how the amazing race isn't going to let you die. I have an immense fear of heights too and honestly that would have helped me because it was reality, and real truth facts. So adorable! Love when he cried over how much he knew that was for you to accomplish. The love

I have watched most of the Amazing Race and honestly I have never minded the internet/KZbin / social media teams, honestly you are the first ones I have known before they are on the race. I am more annoyed and upset with the Survivors/Big Brother/ reality show "stars" when they are on because they talk about those shows I hate, ad nauseam during the interview portions. This season has been such a great relief the interview times are about the people and being on the race not some other reality show they had already been on.

I never expected to cry from watching the Amazing Race--but like so many others, I was grabbing tissues when Penn started crying!

We have not yet visited Lugano but it is on our list for a long weekend this spring and summer! And yes, the signage is different here in Europe than in the USA. It takes some time to get used to it. And even in high tourist areas, signs are not usually in English.

Yes, Kim...you were awesome with that jump! I got tears in my eyes because I knew how hard that must’ve been (especially with anxiety). Y’all were both awesome- loved Penn’s reaction - so heartfelt. I’m so enjoying your recap 👍

I cried when Kim was going because I knew how hard this was for her (I've watched all her videos about Covid and general life safety and I get her). Then I cried when Penn cried. And, then Sherri jumped.. and then Lulu/Lala's grandmother.. 😭 Thanks for doing these behind the scenes discussions.. learning a lot about how the show works.

The best ad popped up at the best time. When Kim was talking about what Penn said to her before she bungy jumped: “And then…. HE SAID….” “The Chrysalids. By John Wyndham. Now on Audible.” And now I’m really wishing that that’s what Penn had actually said to her. Random and not comforting but somehow I can strangely picture it. 😂

I'd buy a shirt that says "I'm a Magellan in the backseat".. Bungee jumping, not so much! So badass!!

Kim you were amazing. But Sheri was epic. I nearly had a panic attack watching you both. I am in awe of everyone who made the jump. Also, that much adrenaline and stress during the day - breaking down is a totally natural response.

We are watching this season with our three middle kids (7,9,12) who, like us, are huge fans of your videos. They are having a blast watching you and wondering how their own middle aged parents would handle these tasks! While their dad would love to bungee jump, I would only jump in a race for a million dollars. And I would get it over with quickly like Kim, because I'm competitive enough not to let any team pass me if I could help it! We are loving watching on Wednesday nights and love your recaps the next day.

I have Panic, anxiety and PTSD. If my ex-wife was 15 minutes late from work most people would think traffic or she stayed late. Me she is in an ambulance and not going to survive. Now I have bungeed, I have been on the biggest and fastest roller coaster in America. My cardiologist gave me a monitor to wear and a box that stayed back. He said how was BP not high at the top of the hill. I said, cause I have over 500 coasters. Dr were you holding on? I brought the picture both my daughter and I had hands held high. My daughter was 20 we were in the front car and at the top of the hill she screamed like banshee. I looked at her and said what was that, to scare the other riders. Amanda was the youngest person to ever ride a hyper coaster it was Millenium Force. Riding with mom hanging and holding her down riding with dad hands held high You two were great on the show. Now I am watching all your videos.
