That’s okay!! All of the points add up at the end of the month, so even if you’re behind, you’re still helping your team! And the things like the detours and roadblocks help add to your point total too. Don’t worry about being behind!

This is so cool! Bummed I couldn't participate this year. I wanted to comment though because I think an opportunity may have been missed with the cities/travel idea (unless I'm mistaken). It'd be really cool to add bonus points for each leg if someone reads a book set in the country they're going to or by an author from that nationality/heritage or in a country's official language(s). Just an idea to link it more to the locations. From what I see in the rules, there's not much to link the books to the specific travel locations? But I could be missing something!

This sounds like a very fun readathon and am looking forward to playing along. May I humbly suggest that the audiobook converter number of 40 pages per 1 hour be adjusted down a bit. Example, if listening at 1.0x, Oathbringer at 55 hrs would be converted to over 2200 pages. Even if you listen at a higher speed, it is easy to temporarily adjust the read rate down to see the 1.0x hours completed.

That is just the conversion rate for things like audible originals that don’t have a page number on Goodreads. If it has a page count on Goodreads, then you’ll use that. It’s the standard conversion for most readathons, so that’s what we will stick to.

Questions 1) Since it is travel based do the books have to have the setting of the cities? Or could it be like for example City is London read a histotical book(I asociate London with history).. 2) if you dont have to read the teams genre how do you decide which team to join? Do you do the team with best host? Also seems mean since I would think all the hosts Are lovely people. 3) I am a mood reader and also like to read several books at once. Do you have to finish one book before starting another? Or can you read five chapters in one book and five chapters in another?

Hi! I will try to answer without spoiling things! 1) the prompts won’t be directly based to the settings. I find fun facts about the city and then make a prompt based on that. For example, last year we went to Greece and the prompt was to read a book with a coastal setting. 2) you don’t have to read your team’s genre but you get bonus points if you do. So if you have a lot of romance you want to read, that’s a good option. You could also choose based on the size of the teams? Fantasy is by far the biggest team and that can be overwhelming for some people while Sci-Fi and general fiction are much smaller. 3) you have to submit your city prompt first before you submit any sightseeing prompts, but a lot of people read multiple at once. The only thing is if you’re behind, you can’t read a book for prompt 3 if you haven’t read the book for prompt 2 yet. Hope that helps! It sounds overwhelming at first, but once it gets going, it’ll make more sense!

Brilliant readathon. And this might be a stupid quesion, but since this is a travel based readathon, are we supposed to read a book from the countries/city we visit? Or is it *just* genre based?

It's just the genre. Each city will have a prompt that relates to a unique fact about the city we're going. So your book will have to match that prompt. For example, last year one of the cities was London, home of the Globe Theatre, and Shakespeare. So the prompt for London was to read a retelling.
