Several have actually appeared in the backgrounds of other episodes. But it also plays on the weird trope of, schools that never seem to have other students or characters. Ed, Ed, and Eddy for example, there's no way the cul-de-sac kids are the only ones in their giant, well funded, school. Yet they're the only ones we see. Then again, in most kids cartoons, we hardly ever see the adults, but logically they have to be there.
